"Chris worked really fast and quality was really good. I was super surprised that there were no paint specks on floor, sink, or trim work. Only criticism was that there were some tiny missed spots in hidden areas. I pointed those out and he fixed within 24 hours. The sheetrock fix had no issues, and he added insulation because it was an exterior wall and the old had rotted away."

"Todd of CW Cabinet Company provided excellent guidance and detailed information including photos to illustrate how the cabinets would be constructed. CW Cabinetry also provided 3D CAD drawings showing exactly what the finished look would be. The craftsmanship of the finished shelves is outstanding and the Todd was an excellent communicator throughout the process. Finally, the day of the install went very, very smoothly...and Todd and his crew were not just respectful of our home, but were a real pleasure to get to know. We have already requested and received design ideas and an estimate on a future project for cabinetry in our home. We will not hesitate to utilize CW Cabinetry...and would recommend them to others without hesitation."

"I was really impressed with the fact that when they came out to give us a quote, unlike some of the other companies that quoted us, they didn't try to convince us that we needed to replace the deck immediately - they said, and quot;sure we can fix that, you've got more life in this deck.and quot; But then they took the time to discuss with my husband what they could do when it came time to replace it. <br /> And then they were such patient gentlemen as I dragged them all around the house for quotes on a bunch of different projects I have in mind. I think they spent as much time measuring bits of the house as they did fixing the deck. <br /> Will be calling them when we have our reno ducks in a row. <br />"

"The ceiling job went well. Mike is a nice guy. The hallway job didn't go well at all. It was completed before and after Thanksgiving. I was clear in my direction that I had wanted the rest of the wallpaper removed. I had completed approximately 30-40% when I realized that I needed help. I was told no problem. It was explained that they would coat the wall, prime and paint it. About four days later the wallpapers was peeling. Mike responded quickly and redid it. He advised me that it would bubble but not to worry. He was right, the bubbles went away after two days. However, when they left after the last finish coat they must have dragged a tarp across the wall and left mark across the wet paint. Mike said I can always call him back to fix anything, but I chose not to. I sanded it and painted it."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Ellsworth, WI

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
