"Found this company on angi.com. Had not used them before. They were able to schedule the work within two days of my initial call. The company showed up right on time and completed the work within an hour. Given the age of the bibb and the means by which it was installed, the company had to install some new piping as well. Was able to apply the $10 angi.com discount coupon to final bill. I'd certainly use this company again."

"Brain and Alexander were great and explained everything as they installed. Contact person was Justin. Be careful though as once I got the bill, the loan wasnâ t what I was promised."

"This was certainly one of the more challenging clogged drains. Lewis was fantastic. My 100+ year old house as usual threw all sorts of difficulties at him. He stuck with it and when he left I finally had a kitchen sink that drained again. He was friendly, explained everything that needed done and had a estimate before proceeding. Payment was accepted that day. Easiest, affordable and best plumbing experience I have ever had."

"Steve is the best plumber. He returns calls promptly, he arrives when promised or calls if delayed and his competitively-priced work is expertly and efficiently completed. I have used this plumber for years during large remodeling projects and smaller plumbing jobs like this last one. The toilet that needed to be replaced was only three years old and used primarily by guests. I was proud of myself for getting such a good (cheap) price on it until Steve told me while he was installing it (in his charming accent) "you gonna have problems with this one". He was right and three years later he replaced that overflowing, persnickety nighmare of a toilet with a new Kohler. I no longer wonder and worry what the toilet will do when a guest asks to use that rest room. Steve replaced the burned out instant hot water heater and kitchen faucet while working in very tight quarters and granite counter tops. No mess. No fuss. Thanks Steve for being a plumber I can rely on."

"Jason was very responsive, even by email (we are usually not available by phone), and worked around our schedule, suggesting several evening appointments. I had purchased a "plumbing service call" coupon through Angie's List for $49, thinking that this would take care of the clogged drain, and was therefore a little surprised when I found out that this wouldn't include any actual work... Unclogging the drain would normally cost an additional $100, but we ended up paying only an extra $25+tax because the coupon included $75 off towards any "repairs". So at the end, we paid $75 total for unclogging the drain, for which our usual go-to contractor (ABC Sewer & Drain Cleaning) would have charged us a flat rate of $100. Overall, still a good deal, but not so much if we had paid full price."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Elm Grove, WI

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
