"Awesome company! Mike came to my home and gave me a very thorough quote for the work I needed, he was very personable and honest. He was able to schedule my panel upgrade for the next day. Quentin(sp) installed my panel, was very efficient and kind! Also installed two lights in my home, did all of this in about 4 hours! Definitely recommend and will use for future electrical work."

"Called about replacing electrical panel, Paul showed up and after inspecting the panel said that we did not need a new pane and did not charge anything for that visit. After explaining a couple electrical problems with plugs that 3 other electricians said they fixed and problems came back after they left. Paul had another one of his technicians come to the house a couple days later and do a complete system check and discovered that one circuit was wired incorrectly. He fixed the wiring and now everything works perfectly. Highly recommend HR Phoenix Electrical Services."

"Always get a second quote for big projects. I was quoted a price by this company to upgrade basically everything electrical in MyNewPlace and it was $2,000 more than another well known comparable company."

"The tech, Bradley Cooper, who came to my house was just awesome, courteous, and patient. First he came out to do an estimate and presented an affordable solution that others had not considered such as going thru my attic to run the line to the back yard. There was a slight snafu once I decided to go with Baker Brothers for the electrical work. The person who took the order didn't catch I wanted them to come to install the new breaker circuit and didn't properly schedule enough time to do the work as it was an all day job. No worries, Bradley took care of the mix up and was back the next day to do the work. Despite us being indecisive on where we wanted things put and our lack of knowledge about what was needed to hook up the swim spa, Bradley patiently waited for us to make a decision and even called the place that sold us the swim spa to get help on where to place the wires for the swim spa. Once the work was done, Bradley and his assistant cleaned up after themselves. The assistant, a former AC man, even told us that it looked like our air conditioner overflow was full and we needed to get that looked at. Overall, it was a great experience working with Bradley & Baker Brothers. Will definitely use them again."

"I needed an additional lighting fixture wired in and mounted above our pantry as well as an outdoor outlet in our patio ceiling, Cool Hand crushed it! They were extremely respectful of our home and wore disposable booties over their shoes every time they had to come inside from the attic or backyard. The install was extremely clean & professional, and of course worked flawlessly. Luke was very kind to our curious daughter who didnâ t make his job any easier! We wouldnâ t hesitate to hire them for the next project, they are 1st class."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Ennis, TX

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
