"THE GOOD   The interview went very well. I had a list of questions as to how the work would be performed and Mike answered the questions with confidence in every part of the job. After talking to him I felt comfortable believing the job would be done correctly.  We talked about materials and agreed on a price that was comparable to other bids. I told him I was not in a hurry. A different contractor said it would be 6 weeks so I guess in my mind I thought work would start in about that time frame. To be fair, Mike never gave me a start date.  This all happened in the middle of May.
 THE BAD   It took a week before we picked shingle brand and color and I paid an $8000 payment. 2 large pallets of materials arrived in the first week of June. The next communication with Mike was the last week of June with him saying the weather had slowed him down.The next contact was the middle of July. Mike said it would be a little longer. I contacted him again at the end of August and he said he was heading my way soon. I contacted him middle of Sept. and was told 2 weeks weather permitting. After 2 weeks Mike texted me saying it would be longer.  I replied with concerns about the material being on pallets in my yard for 4 months and gave him 3 weeks to start work or refund my payment minus material costs. He replied he had the permit and would start work the first week of Oct. Dumpster arrived on a Monday 8 days later. Some wood was dropped off on Friday. Work started the next Friday.
 MORE GOOD   Once the crew was here they did a great job. They protected my and the neighbors house during tear off and cleaned up every day. After tear off we discovered the addition roof tie in needed to be corrected which was outside the original bid. Mike rebuilt that and it looks and functions great. He did a lot of extras like disposing of some junk I had and putting some bolts in the front porch for a swing. He also partially roofed the playhouse to match the house(untill he ran out of shingles).I was very happy with the work.
MORE BAD  A week later I requested a paid in full invoice for taxes and the playhouse roof to be finished and Mike said he would take care of it.
It's been 7 weeks and still no invoice or finished roof on the playhouse.
FINAL WORD   If you want a quality job and have no time pressure then I recommend Mike. This was a 2 1/2 story hip roof and was not an easy job and took over 7 days to complete. That may have figured in to to delay. All in all it's been a roller coaster ride. He probably would have gotten here sooner if his Angies list A rating (and rightfully so in most cases) wouldn't have increased his business so much.

"I was searching Home Warranty providers after a bad experience with my 7 year, soon to be terminated "former" Fidelity Home Warranty service provider. Warranty service providers are essential, for they step in and "act" when life deals you an "Oh Crap" situation like your refrigerator suddenly quits. Every high dollar appliance in a home has a life span that will end whether your prepared for it or not. It's a common occurance that leads to unexpected higher debt concerns while you frantically attempt to save your food from going bad. Got a minimum of $1,700 to get a new one? A truck or a really good friend to borrow theirs to pick it up? Plus time to allow it to achieve proper temperature to transfer your temp sensitive food! Well if you haven't experienced this type of event, in your life, you will! I began by doing some easy research online like searching for best Home Warranty providers. I put some inquiries out to prospective providers and as expected, the sales calls began to ring on my phone. They all have why "they" are the best provider - so take notes and compare policies. Ask whether they cover swimming pools, septic systems, roof repairs etc. So my phone rings with an out-of-state area code and it's Zach from Choice Home Warranty. While on the call, this enthusiastic salesman hit all the "trigger" items I was looking for; *Annual Service Price *Price per claim deductable *Response time You know, all the "need to know" info that helps you make an informative decision. I started paying $550/year 7 years ago in 2014 with my old service provider. The per claim fee was $65. Today in 2022, it's $710/year and $85/claim. Was it worth it you ask? If I figure the math, my total cost over 7 years and only 4 claims was $4,450 or $636/year. This cost paid to replace my pools salt cell and chlorine generator ($1,800 in parts alone), 2 separate Air Conditioner repairs which replaced the coil fan motor, a circuit board replacement, system coil cleansing, relays and a capacitor. (No idea of how much my total cost would have been. I paid $65 twice. Nice huh?) 1 roof repair that replaced the "Cricket", which is a 15' roof section elevational change just below the ridge line. It's important to remember that these repairs don't include "hidden costs" which are personnel and service labor rates. Something you will pay for without a Warranty Service. Here's the best part of the call from this AWESOME salesman. He offered me 6 year "fully transferable", rate locked for life" service policy that when divided out by 6 is LESS THAN WHAT I WAS PAYING ANNUALLY, 7 YEARS AGO!!! So, is a Home Warranty plan a safe bet??? I have a 9 word answer for those without a Choice Home Warranty service plan. YOU BET YOUR DRIPPING SWEATY BUTT CRACK IT IS!!! Props to Zach, YOU DA MAN!!! "I hired the company to do a make ready [clean up & prep] on a single apartment in a building which I own in the  town where I live. I needed the property to be cleaned up so I could rent it again.  I have been a landlord for over 20 years & hadn't found a vacated property in such a mess in all my years. They did the complete interior clean-up which took about five hours. And, the complete prep of the property. they took out all the trash & junk, and cleaned up all debris left in the yard. They did such a great job with that I decided to use them for the yard maintenance also. They cleaned all my flowerbeds & got them ready for spring, placed mulch & trimmed the shrubs and flowering trees. On the inside they made everything look brand new! Cleaning the walls, painting, cleaned the carpets & stripped & polished the wood floors...making them look brand new. The appliances that stayed were cleaned inside & out. They even remembered to get all the light fixtures clean for me. Dusted all window seals & doorways. Shine mopped all they tile floors. To top it all off they even gave the bathrooms a fresh clean look by putting a new caulk seal around the tubs, sinks & shower...which gave the bathrooms a fresh face. All in all I found it to be a very stress free pleasant experience. And, I will definitely call on them for the next project because if they could do so well with a nightmare like that I'm sure the less difficult will be equally affordable and easily handled.
