"They are great, I have already scheduled to use this company again.
From the beginning of my estimate appointment they have been great.  Very personable, prompt, and reasonable.  They walked with me through the house, looked at the plans for my remodel, took pictures, and even returned for a second look when they had questions on how it would be done.  They were quick to give me an estimate and worked with us to arrange to do the work on our timetable.  They kept us informed of all changes to time frame as well.
Today they arrived promptly, and got right to work.  They had to coordinate with RPU (our electric company) to shut off the power, and that went quickly and smoothly.  They removed all the old electrical, from the pole all the way to, and including, our main breaker box.  Then they worked on installing a new pole on the side of our house, going up through the roof to install.  They installed a new meter box, breaker box, and 2 new outlets, one of which was our new stove outlet.  They had to cut a hole in our deck, but you'd never know it because they reinstalled it so smoothly.  It took all day, and they even had to call for parts to be brought out to them, but they kept going so that we could have power back today.  They arranged the inspector, walked the inspector through every step they took, and coordinated with RPU to restore power.
They helped change the cord on the stove when I went to buy one, and even moved it into place for us.  They made sure everything worked before leaving.  And they cleaned up afterwards, not a spec of mess or spare wire to be seen.

"They did an excellent job installing a new 240V outlet in my garage! We were able to easily schedule an appointment. They arrived to my house on time. As they were working they were extremely friendly and communicated proficiently. Once the project was finished everything looked great and the outlet works just fine. I would highly recommend for anyone needing a local electrician."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Eyota, MN

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
