"This was a wonderful company to work with.  New Leaf Construction performed repair to the exterior of our art gallery building.  The damage was caused by significant rot / water issues.  We have very high expectations and we are quite meticulous in the upkeep of our properties.  New Leaf far exceeded customer service expectations and by far was the most responsive and courteous company that we have worked with in Maine.  The crew was responsible and respectful.  The contract process was quite clear and detailed.  The billing procedures and follow up was superb.  The work was completed to perfection."

"I wish the letter ratings had plus and minus values because Brent was a <br /> B+ for most of these categories.  He was easy to work with and we felt the pricing was very fair.   Our hesitancy to post A ratings overall is because of two issues: We know that he sometimes left the work until the last minute and therefore had to rush through things which was the reason for the second complaint: There was inconsistent quality in the details.  For instance, when it came time to put the knobs on the cabinets I said that I could do it myself.  He insisted that he, as a professional could do a better job so I let him do it.  The knobs were put on in a rush(by his own admission) and were not leveled or centered very well.  We felt this was such a shame as he had done such a beautiful job putting the cabinets in. <br /> <br /> But overall we were happy with the work.  We live far away in Baltimore and it has been hard to find good contractors who we could work with from a distance.  Brent was flexible and put up with a lot of messaging back and forth. <br /> <br /> We would use him again in fact we have more work lined up for him to do. <br />"

"After 2 days of purchasing our new home, the roof was leaking in multiple spots and I was in desperate need of a roofer. After a number of sky rocketing estimates from other companies, First Class provided a very reasonable estimate. First Class installed my roof, bathroom vents, gutters and skylights in one day. Not only did that include installation, but cleanup as well! Their craftsmanship and attention to detail was exemplary. They took ample time to inspect my property further and informed me of any other recommended repairs. Because of the level of attention they provided to my home, I hired them to make the repairs, and we are in the process of replacing rotted clapboard and flashing, regrouting stone work, power washing home, and renovate the utility shed siding and install a door.  <br> <br>First Class were the utmost professionals and I would highly recommend them!"

"It went very well.  I made an appointment over the phone, quick and easy.  I brought my car in, was greeted courteously. The technician explained what they were going to do and how much it would cost.  They brought my car right in.  Service took about 45 minutes, but the waiting area was clean and comfortable and they had a Keurig machine if I wanted fresh tea or coffee. <br /> The technician went over the service checklist at the end and told me how everything looked.  He said they do the checklist no matter what kind of service a person comes in for - checking fluids, tires, brakes.  They put on my new Maine plates as well.  It was a good auto shop experience with professional service and I will definitely use ACAR again. <br />"

FAQs for foundation, basement or crawlspace waterproofing / encapsulation projects in Augusta, ME

The most affordable way to waterproof your basement is with interior methods like waterproof paint, costing between $1 and $8 per square foot, or silicate concrete sealers priced at $4 to $6 per square foot. However, these solutions are only suitable for certain issues. If your basement moisture is due to more serious problems like a cracked foundation, you'll need more extensive (and costly) repairs.

Absolutely! Waterproofing your basement is a smart investment that can increase your home's value. By keeping your basement dry and free of moisture problems, you protect your home's structural integrity and make it more appealing to potential buyers. Plus, taking proactive measures now can prevent costly water damage repairs down the line.

The time required to waterproof a basement depends on the selected method. Some approaches to interior waterproofing, like paint or sealant, can be completed within a day. Installing new drains or weeping tiles will need at least two to three days of labor. Any forms of exterior waterproofing that require you to excavate land will require an additional three days of work to prepare the ground.

Yes, basement waterproofing can significantly increase your home's value. A dry, leak-free basement is a strong selling point for potential buyers, enhancing your property's desirability and market price. Investing in professional waterproofing not only protects your home's structural integrity but also ensures a healthier living environment by preventing mold and mildew growth.

Waterproofing both the interior and exterior of your basement offers the best protection against moisture. Exterior waterproofing stops water from penetrating your foundation, while interior methods manage any moisture that does enter. If you must choose one, exterior waterproofing is generally more effective, as it prevents water from reaching your home's interior in the first place.
