"They didn't seem interested in repairing my furnace. All they wanted to do was sell me a new furnace. The demeanor of the technician, Nicholas, changed to argumentative and belligerent when I said I was not buying a new furnace. When I tried to complain to the manager, he became argumentative as well. He did return the diagnostic fee after I told him I was getting a 2nd opinion."

"We hired this company for a diagnostic on a heating system that was not working. They charged a diagnostic fee and then told us the system could not be repaired, stating that ?if they couldn?t fix it, no one could.? They provided an estimate of over $7,000 to replace multiple control boards, a blower motor, and a thermostat. After their visit, we had the system inspected by another HVAC professional. The actual issue turned out to be a cut wire and a failed thermostat. The blower motor and control boards were functioning properly. Once repaired, the system works normally. Total repair cost was under $800. When we disputed the diagnostic charge due to the incorrect diagnosis, the company refused to adjust the invoice and compared the situation to ?getting a second medical opinion,? rather than acknowledging the misdiagnosis. Based on our experience, the diagnosis was inaccurate and the recommended repairs were excessive. Consumers should be cautious and consider obtaining another o"

"We had Evergreen Home Heating and Energy install a new water heater and furnace, and unfortunately, the quality of their work has been disappointing. Recently, I noticed several issues with the intake and exhaust pipes. Several hanger straps attached to the wall are broken, and one of the joints on the water heater exhaust pipe is leaking water. I suspect this leak is caused by the imbalance due to the broken hanger straps. I expected a professional and reliable installation from Evergreen Home Heating and Energy, but these problems indicate a lack of attention to detail and quality. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Evergreen Home Heating and Energy. If you’re considering them for your home needs, be cautious and perhaps look elsewhere."

"My furnace broke down on a very cold day, causing my family to suffer. Dave arrived promptly on time after I contacted him and exhibited a high level of professionalism. Dave displayed impressive knowledge and skill throughout the repair process. My furnace problem was quickly diagnosed and Dave explained it to me in plain and understandable terms. I appreciated his transparency and honesty in discussing the necessary repairs and associated costs. I would recommend Dave's services to anyone who needs repair or upgrades to their HVAC system. Dave, thank you again for saving my family from a cold winter!"

"I won't call any other heating or AC experts ever again. Twice now, I've had incomparable experiences. I had another highly reputed company come diagnose my failed furnace and provide an estimate, but AirPros' price for the same part and repair was much more reasonable and furnace repairs are not cheap, so the difference mattered significantly. AirPros also treated me like family. Go with this family business, you will be happy."

"Tyler from Taylor heating and AC was the best. It was a hot Saturday (mid 90 degrees) and he crawled up into a 115 degree F attic to help resolve our AC. Not only did he identify the problem, he also fixed the issue for us on the spot so we could have AC during this heatwave—all while working under immensely hot conditions. I’d give a 10 out of 5 stars if I could."

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Federal Way, WA

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
