"The crew was a bit sloppy when Joe wasn't around, but he had them return to re-do a few places and clean off areas where the concrete/mortar should not have been placed. There wasn't anything than couldn't be fixed."

"Working with Carlos and his crew was a delightful experience. Carlos put tremendous effort into understanding what we wanted and making sure we were happy with his work as it progressed. He kept the worksite tidy throughout the two-week construction process. Unlike many concrete contractors, Carlos installed rebar to support the sidewalks, which will make them more resistant to cracking and ensure they last a long time. (When getting estimates for your concrete work, don't forget to ask if the contractor is installing rebar. If the price is lower--and it's because the contractor is saving money by not installing rebar, you will want to know.) The finished work is beautiful. We are especially thrilled with our gorgeous stone patio, which reflects consummate craftsmanship and artistry.

"After reading the reviews on Angie"s List and comparing bids from other contractors, we decided to hire Stable Foundations  to install a new driveway and replace a small cement slab adjacent to the driveway.  They did excellent work, and we would not hesitate to use them again.  This family business is licensed and insured, and the work crew is honest, hardworking, and reliable.
Everyone from Stable Foundations was very professional from the beginning.  Evi and Oscar promptly returned my calls, thoroughly explained the work to be done, gave us a bid that was reasonable and competitive, and fit us into the schedule for the very next week.  The crew started the demolition on Tuesday and finished the new driveway by Thursday.  They make sure that things are done the right way - they do not take shortcuts.  They cut back tree roots, repaired sprinkler pipes, compacted the soil, and removed a large tree limb that would have blocked the cement truck.  Since our old driveway had gigantic cracks, they installed rebar every 18 inches and divided the driveway into six panels to prevent huge cracks from forming again.  Oscar would not pour the concrete until we approved the prep work and layout.  This family does quality work and will even re-do concrete work if you aren't satisfied (as long as it hasn't hardened).
These guys went out of their way to be helpful.  I wanted them to replicate the border design of a driveway that I had seen in the neighborhood.  When I couldn't remember the details, Oscar  went with me to look at the driveway to make sure I got the design that I wanted.  He also nailed a new board to our gate and screwed down some loose boards in our deck free of charge. We really appreciate all the hard work that went into creating our beautiful, new driveway.  A big thank you to Evi and Oscar for a job well done!

FAQs for concrete driveways & floors installation projects in Florence, TX

Whether terrazzo is better than porcelain or ceramic tiles for a kitchen or bathroom floor depends on your design preference. Terrazzo can last a long time, but so can a properly installed ceramic tile floor. According to the National Association of Home Builders, the lifespan of a ceramic tile floor is 75 to 100 years, similar to terrazzo.

You should clean terrazzo floors like you would marble, even if there’s no marble in the aggregate. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the polished surface, and steer clear of acidic cleaners like vinegar, which can damage the surface. Instead, use plain water or a neutral cleaner to mop the floor. Then, use a wet vac or squeegee to remove the dirty water. Regular buffing with a soft cloth can help you maintain the shine.

Terrazzo is made by mixing an aggregate like glass or stone with a binder like cement or epoxy. The mix is made and poured into the prepared space you designate. Alternatively, you can purchase prefabricated terrazzo tiles, which consist of similar materials. They’re poured into a mold and cured before installation.

You can add radiant heating under a terrazzo floor, which is an excellent way to combat the naturally cold surface of terrazzo floors. Installing radiant heating costs $1,653 to $6,656. You'll want to install the heating elements under the thin-set epoxy because the layer is thin enough for the warmth to conduct through the floor.

Making your own terrazzo can be a tricky DIY project. The exact mix takes a blend of art and skill to create and requires the expertise of a terrazzo pro. The wrong blend could crack, peel, or break easily, requiring expensive repairs. Finishing and polishing the floor also requires previous experience to achieve a professional appearance. Expect to pay between $200 and $2,500 for the cost of restoring and polishing floors.

Terrazzo flooring is eco-friendly because it is crafted using recycled materials such as glass, marble, and polished metal, and its epoxy binder emits no VOCs once cured. This sustainable manufacturing approach minimizes waste and supports green building practices. Homeowners gain an attractive flooring option, contributing to healthier indoor air quality and environmental conservation.
