"Our experience is the second time around. 15 years ago we added a 3 season room, and have loved it. This time, we had a chance to upgrade the glass. What a difference it has made. From our sales person, to the office staff to the fabulous and courteous installers, we couldn't be happier. We even recieved an extra special surprise from the regional manager!!!😁👍 Thank you everyone for your supreme excellence in this project for us!!! We are so pleased."

"I was a little nervous about ordering windows on the internet using measurements I'd taken myself, but I loved the design on the website so, initially I only ordered 2 windows to check the quality, my ability to measure accurately and the company's ability to build to my measurements. Jeff, the salesman I dealt with was attentive without being overwhelming and the first order was delivered in about 4 weeks. The windows were exactly what I was looking for and fitting them was a breeze. I followed up with another order for the remaining 13 windows in my porch and again, they arrived quickly, were of great quality, exactly to size and easy to fit. Looking forward to see how they last their first winter."

"<ul> <li>Very difficult getting county planning and zoning approval, but SDG's chief project manager made it happen.  Excellent work on his part.  </li> <li></li> <li>The excavation contractor - Micke Digging & Hauling - was excellent: they scraped, dug, poured for the foundation and floors on time and did a good job, even with threatening rain.  We're having them back separately to put in a new patio for us.</li> <li></li> <li>The electrical sub-contractor - Jeff - was excellent, with suggestions, workmanship, and punctuality.  He found ways to install wire in the most difficult spots, stayed until done, and answered all questions.</li> </ul> <br /> The erecting sub-contractor, on the other hand, was not fun to deal with.  On a sunroom, these are the guys who spend most of the man-hours on site.  The foreman was poor on communicating with us and failed to show up when we were expecting them. My wife  and I took vacation days to be home, when nobody showed up.  There were no apologies, just excuses. To be fair, they did a quality job when they finally finished.  On the night of the 18th, we had a torrential downpour, and there were no leaks, and the room is wonderful. <br />     <br /> Again, excellent quality, poor communication and punctuality for that one prime sub-contractor.  Sunroom Design Group and the other two subs are all good.  But I have to hold SDG accountable for the performance of the erecting crew. <br /> Remember, there are two or more sides to every situation.  This is how we, as the customers, experienced it.  It probably looks a little different to the contractors. <br />"

"I'd hire Jan and his team again. They were punctual and did great work. When they tore off the old deck, they realized the old supports were rotted so badly, nothing could be saved; no way they could have known this. No extra labor charged for what was a lot of extra work. I'd hire them again for any project, as they do a lot more than decks."

"After 20 years, we decided to remove our above ground swimming pool and the large cedar deck which surrounded it.  We took care of the pool removal but Specialty Design removed the deck in July.  About 2 months later, they built a new cedar and maintenance free deck for us.  Bill was a joy to work with during the planning process.  Darren (also great) is in charge of the building process.  They have a professional work crew.  Showed up when they said they would.  Worked hard all day long and cleaned up after themselves.  They even moved the wood around every few days so that our lawn would not be damaged.  The new deck and walkway are beautiful and built with high quality materials. <br />"

"From first contact, through completion, the folks at Reetz did a great job with our deck project. <br /> <br />When we first contacted Reetz, and several other contractors, Reetz came out fairly quickly; at a time convenient for us, not just them. They asked good questions about what we needed, took measurements, gave us an approximate range based on the types of materials to be used (either wood or composite). Once we decided on the material (in this case composite to match more closely with our house and the style we were looking for), they provided us a written/email with the estimate. <br /> <br />Once work began, and as I'd mentioned to them, the ground was very difficult to dig footing holes because of all the rock/limestone in the area. What would typically take an hour or two took an entire day with auger and tools. No additional cost was added on for the extra time/hassle. <br /> <br />As they started to take off some of our siding on the house to connect the deck to the house and around the patio door, they noticed some wood rot because the installers of the windows (years ago) didn't do a good job. Reetz asked if we'd like them to remove all the siding around the patio door and windows in the area and we said it should be done while they're here. They found some rot, took care of replacing the wood, properly sealed and flashed the windows, door, etc. and put siding back up. Only increased cost a few dollars (and done timely without be needing to find another contractor). <br /> <br />With the deck nearing completion, we discussed with Reetz the possibility of adding a step all the way around the deck because our yard slightly sloped away from the deck and the deck's main level was a little high for my wife and perhaps older visitors to comfortably step up or down without a stumble. The height wasn't an issue for me, but for some of the folks who would use the deck when they visit, we thought a step around the circumference was a best choice. Reetz quickly designed the step to be a part of the deck, brought in a little fill to level the ground and made a seamless step/transition to help smaller or older folks easily step up or down onto the deck. <br /> <br />Additional cost was in line with what we'd expect and the work was exquisite. <br /> <br />Each day, throughout the work, Reetz cleaned up after themselves, asked if we needed assistance moving anything or getting rid of the big rock or two they had to take out of the footing holes, etc. They communicated well, and were easy to work with. <br /> <br />When we begin our next project, Otto and Jeremy will be getting a call from us. <br />"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Fond Du Lac, WI

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
