"The area to insulate was pretty tight and we were not home when the work was done. They did what they said they would, contacted us if any challenges came up and helped us with the decision then had the house cleaned up when we came home!! Thank you! Eileen Minocqua"

"This company did very careful and professional work.  As I said, it's a huge job.  They draped the rooms with plastic sheeting so that we wouldn't have too much plaster dust everywhere (some always escapes, but it was minor).  They patched all the holes that they made. My recollection is that they did the job in 2 - 3 days.  (I'm writing this review several years later).
One issue we ran into, which was not their problem, but you should consider it, is that when they started spraying in the foam, we discovered that we needed tuckpointing done, as the foam started oozing out like toothpaste in a few spots on the outside.

"Great. They arrived on time and consulted me on all options at each stage of the installation. I chose to upgrade on the filters. Most important, they cleaned up all debris and removed it."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"I was in need of a carpenter for a back porch. The concrete/brick contractor that I used (James at Anyway Concrete)  suggested Jeremy.

I contacted Jeremy and he came to my house to inspect the porch and discuss my wants and needs in just a couple of days.  During the inspection he told me my porch wasn't in code because it lacked a landing, the railings were spaced too far apart, and the steps weren't wide enough. (Who knew?!) He also took time to answer all my questions about treated, cedar and synthetic lumber.

He took measurements, then emailed me options for doing the work using treated lumber, cedar and synthetic which I had requested.. I went with cedar as we were getting new cedar fencing and I love the beauty and smell of cedar.

Jeremy and his partner did a beautiful job!  I now have a lovely back entrance porch that is in code, a pleasure to sit or stand on and is very secure and strong.  I didn't realize how unsafe our old porch was until I experienced this one.  I was hesitant about the landing, but I can tell you that after just one use, I now wonder how I managed all this time without it! It's a pleasure to be able to put bags on the landing and have my hands free to open the storm door and unlock the back door instead of trying to hold everything in one hand , while balancing on an 8" step hoping not to drop my keys or bags when the I swing open the storm door.

I also enjoy standing on the landing in the morning and admiring the view of my new backyard. I kind feel like Leonardo DiCaprio (I'm king of the world!) when I stand and look out at my backyard domain er 125'x30' city lot... :)

Jeremy and his partner were fast (they built the porch and gate in one day!), professional, courteous and respectful of my property.  When they were done, they did a great job of clean up.  They also gathered up all the left over cedar lattice and wood and gave to me to so I could burn in our soon to be purchased metal fire pit.  I also appreciated how they showed me the receipts for all the materials purchased. When I commented that the railing was a little wide for my hands, they purchased and installed a solid oak railing with metal brackets at no additional charge.

As the pictures show, Jeremy is a true craftsman."

FAQs for batt, rolled or reflective insulation install or upgrade projects in Forreston, IL

Batt insulation excels in vertical installations because it remains firmly in place and delivers consistent thermal performance. Blown-in insulation performs exceptionally in spaces such as attics, efficiently filling gaps in irregular areas.

Employing both insulation types according to their strengths enhances your home’s overall energy efficiency and comfort by providing a tailored solution for every space.

Start by measuring the square footage of the space, then match that area with the insulation thickness you need to hit your target R-value. Add a buffer for waste and odd-shaped spots so every cavity is covered.

Once you have a rough count, run it past a local insulation pro—their on-site advice will fine-tune the numbers and help you avoid costly miscalculations.

Old insulation that is dry, intact, and mold-free does not require removal before adding new insulation; stacking new insulation over it maintains effective thermal performance and boosts energy efficiency.

If the insulation is damp, moldy, or deteriorated, removal is necessary to eliminate health risks and ensure maximum effectiveness of the new layer. A professional insulation contractor will assess your situation and recommend the most effective solution.

Installing insulation in an average-sized home using batts or boards requires five to 12 hours. Using spray foam or blown-in insulation requires two to five hours. These timeframes are determined by the area’s size, accessibility, and whether old insulation must be removed.

Complex projects and hard-to-reach spaces demand extra time. Hiring an experienced insulation professional ensures that the installation is completed efficiently and correctly.

Insulation is measured by R-value, which defines how effectively it resists heat flow. A higher R-value provides superior thermal resistance, ensuring your home remains warm in winter and cool in summer.

Choosing the correct R-value is essential for maximizing energy efficiency and comfort, and it directly impacts long-term utility savings. Professional guidance determines the optimal R-value for your specific climate.
