"I had tiles that had come loose due to improper installation (by someone else). William remove that tile and hardy board to clean up the bad installation. He put down a new membrane and tile. He even found a new tile that matched the old ones. Great job!"

"I bought a home built before 1978 and found that there was some asbestos floor tile in the basement. I reached out to D&H Demolition and they immediately came out to take a look at the project and provided a free estimate. They were very helpful and answered all my questions which made me feel a lot safer about the situation. I hired them and they took care of the work the very next day! Overall I was very pleased with their price and quality of work. Highly recommend!"

"I had an old leak at the top of the chimney area that I thought was fixed come alive but apparently it had been leaking slowly over time around the ceiling and the roof. Mike told me what was happening and how he would fixed it. The price was good and totally fair. His and his crew definitely take pride in what they do."

"It was amazing! Let me say right off the bat that Ken from Floor Gem was great. We had some water damage and needed to get the floor replaced before Thanksgiving. We had a little mix-up on the installation date and time but Ken was fantastic and with incredibly short notice he was able to arrange a team to perform our install. They did an amazing job! We couldn't be happier!"

"Before I went to the store, someone came to the house to measure, so that the information would be in the computer. At the store, Doug recommended a Berber as the best for my lifestyle. He showed me several samples, and let me take a couple samples home to see how they looked in the actual rooms. I left the showroom with a price quote, since they already had the measurements. The carpet came in quickly after I decided to buy. They were able to schedule me quickly, and arrived at my house within the scheduled time frame. The installers did a good job. They were able to move furniture around carefully, even dealing safely with a very heavy old upright piano. The edges and seams look good. I was given some useful advice on proper maintenance of Berber carpeting, including loose threads."

FAQs for tile: ceramic and porcelain repair projects in Fort-howard, MD

People use the terms refinishing, resurfacing, and reglazing interchangeably. Refinishing is a process that repairs old tiles and gives them a fresh new coat of finish. This is also called tile resurfacing or reglazing.

Yes, you can refinish tiles as a DIY project, but it’s important to follow all the steps involved. These include the following:

  1. Clean the tiles or hire a local tile cleaning service to remove all the residue (soap film, oil, grease, and dirt).

  2. Etch the tile to ensure the refinishing solution adheres properly.

  3. Fill in any cracks or chips in the tile.

  4. Recoat the grout.

  5. Repair any missing or damaged caulking where applicable.

  6. Apply the refinishing product, primer, and enamel.

Your newly reglazed tile should last between 10 and 15 years with proper installation. However, higher-traffic areas and moisture may result in a reduced life span. Explore the cost of different tile types to determine which material works best for your home and needs.

Your bathtub and tile refinishing cost will likely seem like a small price to pay for the transformation it offers. Provided your tile and grout are both intact, refinishing will bring a brand-new style at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, most ceramic tile is paintable with specific epoxy or tile paints. However, you’ll want to avoid areas of heavy use or moisture, such as countertops, showers, and bathtubs. Paint can crack, bubble, or wear away over time, especially on floors.
