Above all, we are watchful of our customers' interests, and make their concerns the basis of our business.

"We have used Daniel Bullard previously and when he remodeled our master bathroom he did great work. On Christmas Eve a pipe burst and caused water damage. One room, a closet and flooring in multiple rooms had to be replaced. The flooring is a huge issue with my complaint. Originally we were going to do simple peel and stick vinyl planks like we did in our living room. For whatever reason they could not get them to stick so we have Daniel the authority to choose flooring that fell into the insurance company budget. He chose a click and lock laminate flooring that had a residential lifetime warranty. When installing this floor the planks are supposed to be staggered and trim is supposed to be installed to keep the flooring nice and tight with no wiggle room. We noticed almost immediately that in one area there were a few boards not laying flat. He came out and fixed it and when he did he didn't stagger the boards. The repairs were complete the end of February 2023. By June 2023 we noticed that the flooring was shifting and contacted Daniel (the owner). He said he would work with us on the labor to replace it. We contacted him again and asked him to come and see how bad it really was. He came out in July and said that he made a mistake in installation and he would cover the labor and half of the materials. He stated this in front of myself and my mother. We agreed even though we felt he should pay for it all as he installed it wrong causing it to break and our new floors needed to be replaced less than han 6 months after installation. We saved money to cover our half of materials. He had a family medical crisis so he chose November 13, 2023 for install. We repeatedly texted asking how he would like to do the material, we pay upfront for it all and then he would pay us the half or he pick up and pay and we reimburse. That's when he changed it to he was not covering any material. We reluctantly agreed so we could fix the now falling apart floor. Before 11/13/23 we texted multiple times asking what time to expect him. No answer. Finally that day he said I can have someone there on the 15th to start. He forgot to put us on the schedule. On the 15th he and 2 of his subcontractors arrived late dropped the material off and left said they would be here between 8 and 9 the next morning. They showed at 2:30 to remove the damaged floor. Then they left. Returned Friday and his subcontractors did an amazing job. Daniel however is someone you need to get everything in writing because he went back on his word about paying half, he should have paid for it all because he improperly installed it or we wouldn't have needed to replace it again so fast. We spent over $1200 between materials and having to stay in a hotel for a night because we couldn't access half our house, not including ordering out because our fridge and stove were in our living room. Very, very unhappy. We should not have had to spend this money a second time in less than a year. A good contractor stands behind their work and he didn't. I have photos of the bad install in anyone wants them."

"In August 2022, after hearing about DFW Improved on a home improvement radio show, we entered into two contracts with them for a roof replacement and interior water damage repair. These contracts were based on insurance-approved scopes following the 2021 ice storm. DFW Improved began the roof replacement project first. Following the replacement, the roof continued to leak due to their failure to replace the flashings. Despite corresponding work items in the insurance scope (confirmed later by the insurance adjuster's email), the DFW Improved salesperson insisted that flashing was not part of the roof. He threatened legal action if further payment was not made. Prior to this, they presented two identical model shingles as choices, which their own roof subcontractor on-site disclosed. Upon our inquiry via email, instead of addressing the issue, the salesperson accused us of defaming their company. Furthermore, they quoted $900 for a non-existent siding hole and estimated $25,000 for a bookcase, which their own designer valued at $6,000 to $7,000. While the roof leaking issue was still unresolved, DFW Improved began interior work. Instead of submitting the agreed supplement request as agreed, they skipped necessary steps to cut water-damaged drywall. To prevent wasted effort, we instructed workers to stop. The salesperson responded, stating that workers would not proceed with any work not approved by insurance. However, he emailed the insurance company claiming that the work had already been completed, causing significant confusion for us. During the halt period, we sent out numerous issues such as broken air pipes, cracked roof rafters, missing insulation, roof holes, missing felt paper, and a leaking roof. However, we received no response other than prevaricate explanations and demanding for money. We escalated to the DFW Improved upper manager who responded that they are their best team members and disregarded our request for an alternative project team. DFW Improved abandoned the projects and warranties, and initiated separation in December 2022. Both parties engaged in negotiations over separation costs. During this process, DFW Improved unexpectedly sent four individuals to our house, claiming to inspect texture work and demanding payment. Subsequently, DFW Improved placed a lien on our house, and their lawyer sent a demanding letter stating they would auction our house and (quote)“sue Vigorously” if payment was not made, despite the mediation/arbitration clause clearly outlined in the contracts. Under this pressure, we filed a claim in Tarrant County Small Claims Court, where the lien was placed. Later, their lawyer filed a motion to transfer the case to Collin County, where DFW Improved is based. We refused to comply with a demand for $5,000 and the confidentiality requirement during mediation. DFW Improved filed a new case simultaneously in the higher Tarrant County District Court, demanding a new amount of $59,845 and seeking to enforce the lien, providing no explanation for this amount. According to their co-owner's email, their accounting book calculated that we owed them a total of $1,260 (detailed below). During pre-mediation discussions, their lawyer attempted to justify their request for $8k, citing that a significant portion was allocated to attorneys' fees. We did not engage their lawyer to send us a threatening letter containing false statements about suing us without mediation. Their lawyer also declined $65 public mediator service provided by the Tarrant Small Claims Court. Additionally, they unilaterally escalated the dispute to a higher court. We have never been late with their payments. In fact, DFW Improved made a math error by crediting the blind work twice. When we brought this to their attention, DFW Improved spent extra time correcting the invoice, and their salesperson initiated an internal investigation. Any delay was certainly not caused by us. DFW Improved filed a lien attempting to collect the costs again, despite already receiving payment. We are uncertain about the extent and duration of the legal battle DFW Improved and their lawyer will continue to pursue. It has been nearly two years. Instead of assisting us with the aftermath of a natural disaster, DFW Improved attempted to extort money from us and our insurance provider. This has resulted in substantial legal fees, emotional stress, and significant delays in repairing our house, necessitating prolonged rental expenses. Despite our efforts to settle amicably, they persist in prolonging and escalating the dispute. This inci"

FAQs for addition to existing structure building service projects in Fort Worth, TX

You can typically raise your roof by four to eight feet, depending on your home's structure and roof design. The exact amount depends on factors like roof slope and framing support. Raising the roof creates additional interior space, enhances natural light, and increases your home's value. Consult a professional to determine the feasible height increase for your home.

Yes, you need a building permit to raise your roof. Obtaining a building permit ensures your project complies with local building codes and safety regulations. A professional contractor can assist with the permit and inspection process and ensure all legal and safety requirements are met. Your contractor will be familiar with building codes in your area, which can differ between cities or states.

While it's possible to raise a flat roof, it requires extensive structural modifications. Flat roofs lack the attic space and support structures of pitched roofs, so raising them involves significant engineering to ensure safety and durability. This process can be complex and costly, so professional assessment is essential before undertaking a project of this magnitude.
