"We moved across country from CA to Murphy returning to our childhood home state of North Carolina July of this year. The home we purchased is beautiful but needed some outside work due to all the rains thru the summer and a fenced yard for our rat terrier. <br /> We found Chris on Angie's list and liked him right away. He was friendly, knowledgeable and overall professional. We immediately hired him to build the fence and stairs leading into the enclosed yard and add gates to the other two entrances on the porch. Due to his busy summer schedule the work was to begin first week of September. <br /> While waiting for the work to begin my husband and I decided we could paint the porch and rails ourselves. As we began choosing colors we realized our color scheme would need to be completed on the trim of the house so contacted Chris again for a second job. We got lucky due to his schedule and the painting job was added to the schedule for the week after he completed the fence. <br /> Chis showed up on time the day of scheduled work even though his helpers were finishing up a previous job and started breaking ground on the fence. A few days later his assistant, Bill, was on the job. Bill, too, is friendly, knowledgeable and exceptional with woodwork. A great addition to Chris's team! <br /> Everything was going well until it came time to paint the trim on the Chalet side of the home. I should point out here that the back Chalet porch was an addition added on by the previous owners. Chris discovered that the beam supporting the roof was not strong enough and was bending severely. In essence the porch was separating from the house and pulling the roof with it. It would not have taken much more then a good solid storm to cause it to collapse. Chris' good eye may have litterally saved our lives. Chris came up with a plan to stop the sliding and secure the porch but ran into yet another issue, the support wood on the outside of the home was rotten due to water damage. <br /> Without concern for his busy schedule, Chris went to work immedately on building a steel plate to attach a large horizontal beam directly to the home and another steel support plate to the outside as well as replacing the bad vertical beam. A few days later the job was completed, the trim painted and we are exceptionally happy with both Chris and Bill. <br /> We have more projects coming up next year as we get settled in . . . A bathroom that needs remodeling, kitchen issues, and other smaller jobs around the home. We will be calling on Chris again when the time comes.
