"The estimate was very thorough, and went through the 17 checkpoints they use to assess the health of the roof and gutters. There were some minor repairs needed, and they also recommended removing the attic fan (which interferes with modern ventilation configurations). The work was performed quickly and efficiently; the crew was very professional and kept any disturbance to a minimum. They cleaned up after the work was done, and all I was left with was a better roof."

"Great company and workmanship. They took their time, had great attention to detail and even came back a 3rd day to do some caulking touch up and and another sweep of the yard for nails and old shingles. Communication throughout the process was top notch. My neighbor had his roof installed by a lower cost company on the same day and wishes he spent the extra money to have it done right. Their pricing is competitive, but may not be the cheapest. However, you get what you pay for! I would highly recommend this company for any roof repairs or replacements."

"Team along with company owner arrived early and covered shrubs and grass around house with tarps, parked dump trailer in driveway for trash. Multiple guys on roof stripping off shingles and two guys on ground cleaning up as they worked. Roof underpayment and drip edge was on before lunch. With only about three and a half hours of daylight left, 9 guys all went to work on laying 30 squares of shingles, ridge vent and caps finishing the job in one day. Yard was cleaned up and nails were removed with a magnet, yard was left just as they found it. Evan’s Roofing team was experienced and very professional, using quality Owings Corning roofing products to complete the job. This is the second roof they have done for my family this year and they will be doing two more family houses in the spring. Definitely would recommend Evans Quality Roofing to anyone needing.a new roof or roof repair."

"After seeing several water spots on my ceilings, I called two roofing companies to evaluate. One recommended an inexpensive solution for a few minor repairs. Jay from Home Wise recommended a full replacement. After a lengthy discussion to try to understand why the disparity, I went with Jay and full replacement. When my shingles were removed it was just like Jay said - multiple areas of excessive water damage with many pieces of plywood being replaced. The inexpensive repair would have been a complete waste of money. The work went smoothly and I have a beautiful new roof. I highly Recommend Jay and his team. Could not find a better company for your work."

"DWM Roofing was recommended to us by our neighbor who was extremely pleased with the new roof they got from them. DWM's customer service was amazing. Pete and Jill were very dependable, knowledgeable and helpful. We were kept informed every step of the way. The installation crew was fantastic. They came on time, worked very hard all day, and they cleaned everything up before they left. The roof was in one day. Our roof looks great. We would highly recommend DWM Roofing to anyone."

"Recent rains have made it apparent that I have a leak in my roof. Russ Robertson was a great help in advising me on the steps that will need to be taken for the repair. He was easy to talk with and answered all my questions. I look forward to having Timothy's Roofing handle the repairs."

"I would use Lyons for my next roofing job. I had a roof leak, called Tom's number based on a neighbor referral, in between May storms. He took the call around 7:45am, he showed up at the time agreed-upon a few hours later - literally at the exact time; no 2-3 hour window. When he arrived, he shared helpful insights, hit the roof, made the fixes and I got me back to work in time for the end of lunch. My fix was simple for someone like him, and I know a full roof is different, but this is my experience and I hope it helps fill his book of business with people reading it. We need more well spoken, competent, professional contractors around the DMV."

"I contacted Roof Solutions after we discovered a water coming through an upstairs light fixture. Eric came out and discovered a missing slate and unsealed nail hole along the roof ridge. Rather than just replace the slate and reseal the ridge, Eric proposed a cap along the entire ridge to prevent future occurrence. The finished product is attractive and blends well with the roof."

"It was hard to find a roofing company that I could trust working on a steeply pitched slate roof. I had used two previously that I felt had done a sub-par job. Bill made a good impression and came out to our house to survey the roof condition soon after first contacting him through Angie's List. <br /> Unfortunately, while Bill did respond to emails, it took a little while to get an estimate, and a while longer to get a confirmed slot for when the work could be done. It was probably a busy time for roofers - as we had just thawed out from Snowpocalypse or whatever it was called - but it was 24 days from first contact to when the roof was fixed. <br /> Outside of that little hiccup however, I would absolutely recommend Dominion Roofing, especially for those with slate or metal rooves. The work was of high quality, was completed on the day promised, and our roof looks much better than before. <br /> I did notice that the website link on Angie's list is not correct - the correct website should be: http://www.dominionroofs.com/ <br /> <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Frederick, MD

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
