"Overall experience was positive. The diagnosis was good and only required a $15 part that was able to install myself. My frig is working great. While my total cost for the repair was $80 which included the $35 diagnostic fee, the lowest other price quote was over $400. I am very pleased with this new type of appliance repair. I will be recommending this my family and friends."

"Very well. The repairman checked the washer thoroughly, and determined that we didnt need to replace the motor at this time. We really appreciated his honesty and professionalism. Will definitely call them the next time we need any household appliance repairs."

"I had to wait to write this review as I was pretty ticked off right after the work was done.  Now that I have calmed down I feel I can write a fair review.  <br /> Tom was on time and went to great lengths to let me know how long he has been doing appliance repair and how professional he is.  He spent quite a bit of time taking my machine apart and determined it was the switch.  I noticed that he came with a print out of information about the machine from the internet.  He was not familiar with the machine and I think that was why it took him so long to take the machine apart and figure out that it was indeed the switch.  That was pretty obvious to me when I called, but ok, he wanted to be sure.  He did not have the needed part.  He needed to order it out of Chicago and come back to install it.  In the meantime he refused to put the machine back together because he said it was too dangerous to operate the way I had been operating it before he came.  There are no children in the house - I am an adult and know not to stick my hand in the washer while it is operating.  I felt he was very condescending and pompous.  I am not an idiot.  He did come back and install the switch and the machine works again.  This cost me nearly $300 for the repair as I recall.   I noticed the first time that I used the machine that it was leaking.  In moving the washer and possible removing the hoses to do so, a hose was loosened and was leaking.  I had to pull the washer out and tighten the hoses at the washer.  Overall not as impressed with this company as other businesses I have used from Angie's list.  <br /> As an aside, I will never buy another GE appliance.  This is the second very expensive appliance from GE that had a part fail that was difficult/impossible to find.  I understand they do not manufacture replacement parts for very long after the machine is no longer sold. <br /> UPDATE:  My tighetening of the loose hose reduced but did not resolve the leak.  I finally called All Appliance Repair, another Angies List service person.  I had had Steve out to clean my dry and vents last year and got him back to look at the washer.  Turns out the machine was not put back together correctly and that hose connections to things like the bleach dispenser were not connected.   Since I had not had any leakage prior to Tom working on the machine last year my conclusion is that when he took the whole machine apart he neglected to reconnect this one.  I should mention that I did not call Tom to fix the issue because of his snotty attitude.  I figured no sense throwing good money after bad. <br />"

"There are always surprises when making home repairs. My window had to be adapted to accommodate the AC size and we had to find the circuit for the proper outlet Dick had the supplies he needed to get the job done and made additional adjustments so that I can take out the unit in the winter. The cut-to-order shades were a little narrow and he knew how to adjust the brackets so that they would work. One would think that replacing light bulbs would be at anyone's level of expertise but Dick reminded me that it is best to replace all of the light bulbs so that I don't have to do it again when an older bulb burns out. I would not have thought of that. The remote thermometer needed to be integrated with the inside one and Dick knew just how to do that. The table lamp is old and I didn't know if it could be repaired. I like its construction and was disappointed when it fell apart. Dick knew just how to fix it. I have called on Dick's Fix It for 4 years--both on my current house and the previous one. His problem-solving skills and expertise always amaze me and I know that I can rely on him to resolve anything that he encounters. Dick is courteous, professional, and a partner in servicing one's home. If you want a handyman who will go beyond the expected and do an excellent job for you call Dick's Fix It."

"I originally found Burkhardt Heating & Air Conditioning in 2021 through a recommendation from Angi's List, when my HVAC system was having various issues. Today, I'm posting a review for the HVAC services I received from Burkhardt on April 27th, 2023. Early in 2023, Burkhardt Heating & Cooling presented a new annual home HVAC-Maintenance package that could be paid for in 12-interest free monthly installments. This maintenance plan was not only significantly cheaper than than the former lump-sum plan, but it also included several types of additional discounts that were previously only available through occasional coupons. This new plan (which includes Spring & Fall Cooling & Heating checkups) is, in itself--in my opinion---a FIVE STAR+ benefit that Burkhardt offers!! I had my first 2023 checkup of my cooling system on April 27th by Burkhardt under this new plan. The technicians arrived punctually, were jovial & friendly, and spent nearly an hour making sure that not only my air conditioner was working properly, but that the entire A/C-supporting system was in good health! The techs were highly-skilled, knowledgeable, and professional, and went out of their way to ensure that everything was in working order. They found dust accumulating on the fan of the blower motor, and offered a device that I could purchase that would greatly reduce that dust accumulation--so as extend the life of my HVAC system 3-4 years beyond its 10-year projected life-span!! They did not try to hard sell me, or pressure me into making the purchase, but simply presented it as a suggestion. I asked them if there were any discounts that could be applied to the purchase. They found THREE DISCOUNTS (including a Veterans discount), which so significantly reduced the cost of purchase & installation, that I purchased it on the spot! I have found Burkhardt Heating & Cooling so honorable, honest, reliable, professional and friendly--from the front office to the field--that they deserve a FIVE STAR+++ rating!!"

FAQs for fridge, freezer or ice maker repair or service projects in Fredonia, WI

Most ice makers are similar in design, and some parts are interchangeable. However, if your ice maker has advanced filters or special features, it's best to use the same make and model to ensure everything works properly. Ask your appliance repair pro to check your appliance specifications to be sure.

With regular use and proper maintenance, an ice maker typically lasts about four to five years. If you keep up with tasks like changing the filters every six months, you might get up to 10 years out of your ice maker. Address any problems with your ice maker right away by calling an appliance professional to ensure you solve any issues before they escalate, helping to keep your ice maker running smoothly for longer.

Your refrigerator's age plays a big role in deciding whether to repair or replace the ice maker. If your fridge is nearing the end of its average 14-year lifespan, it might not be worth investing in expensive repairs since other parts could fail soon. Getting a diagnosis from a refrigerator repair pro can help you decide what's best.
