"Most construction is straightforward. Contractors go by the building code, which they all know very well — better than the city, in fact. Tiger/Shelby did a great job. We have no complaints with their work. <br /> But the city of Santa Clara is another story. We applied for permits in January, and they were finally issued <em>this month — October!</em> But the city building department is still making us jump through flaming hoops. They are <em>never</em> satisfied, and they routinely change their arbitrary rules. <br /> We got stuck with a new employee/bureaucrat: Suzanne Park. She is absent more often than she is at work, but no one takes her place. She has already learned that she is completely unaccountable. <br /> Suzanne will not ever make a commitment, but rather, she seems to want to reserve the right to cause us further delays at her whim. It depends on her mood, and she contradicts herself at times. <br /> She has often been wrong in the past, and that has cost us time and money as a result. But Suzanne is totally unaccountable, and she knows it. <br /> Apparently these bureaucrats have no superior, at least that we have been able to determine. No one takes her place when she is absent. She seems to take pleasure in causing us repeated, unnecessary delays. <br /> We are simply adding a bedroom, but due to the city’s bureaucracy our costs and completion time are far more than we originally planned. <br /> So to wrap up: Shelby and Tiger Construction is fine. They are very conscientious and they do very good work. But my advice is to move to another city before building an addition — unless you7're with the 49ers. Then it's all smooth sailing. <br /> <br />"

"<p>It was excellent. I have already referred them to a neighbor who is having a huge garage done. I  looked at, I'll bet, six companies. I have a redwood expansion joint and they were the only ones who could take  that out. They have a special epoxy they used in the hole to fill the expansion joint. Then they came out and finished the permanent epoxy. Their pricing is good and their responsiveness was fantastic. The lead installer has put in about 500 of these and he had an assistant with him that was training. These people were above board and call you back. They are polite and are ladies and gentlemen. They have a good product. His truck was immaculate. Everything was neat and he had a place for everything. </p>"

"The whole TerraVenti Construction team was great to work with. They were honest, professional and dependable from the estimate to demolition to clean up.  They remodeled our master bath and kitchen. For the bathroom we redid our shower and two vanity tops. For the kitchen, we replaced our countertops, added backsplash, added an island, redid electrical for new appliances and lighting. We got what we wanted with no delay. <br /> <br /> The price was fair, they showed up as scheduled and cleaned up very well every day. They were easy to work with and were very patient with our questions. We did a lot of communicating via text and they were very responsive. <br /> <br /> I find TerraVenti easy to work with.  The owner is very thoughtful and direct when doing business. The employees are kind and thorough with their work.   <br /> <br /> We would definitely recommend this company if you are planning a kitchen or bathroom remodel."

"Dan was an excellent contractor to work with - professional, communicative, prompt, detail oriented and personable. My wife and I decided to do an extensive kitchen remodel (down to studs, removing a wall, redoing floors, etc.) and very happy we chose Dan to do the work. He kept to the schedule he laid out at the beginning (except for inevitable "found items" during the remodel) and his sub-contractors were all top notch. Dan kept us informed through out the work what was coming next, when it would happen and what we should expect as we lived through the remodel. If/when we do our next project on the house, we will definitely be reaching out to Dan again and have already recommended him to friends and family members."
