"Prior to hiring Dunbar to work on our well water system, our new construction suffered from wildly fluctuating temperature (bursts of cold water while taking a shower.) The original plumber proved incapable of resolving the problem and two additional plumbers also were unable to discover the cause and/or arrive at a fix. Although the home was still covered by a one-year warranty, we decided that we would have to address the problem ourselves. After numerous observations, it was discovered that the burst of cold water was directly correllated with the well pump turning on. The municipality requires a sprinkler system and, in lieu of a tank, installed a higher capacity pump. Dunbar was recommended by Steve Beckwith of Beckwith Heating (provided review). They did experiments and informed us that (1) our water did NOT require any treatment; i.e., the analysis showed our well water was well within specs, but (2) they felt that they could reduce the iron and observed sediment (iron was at the high end of allowed range). Furthermore, they could not guarantee fixing the cold water burst problem, but were quite certain that adding a flow restrictor (demonstrated via manual shut-off valve that it should work) the bursts should be greatly reduced or even eliminated. They also had the option of exchanging flow reducer rates (first one worked great.) To handle the flow needed for the sprinkler system, they installed a pressure bypass valve. Bottom line, system works great - outstanding job."
