"I pay a monthly fee to CHW for insurance against equipment failure. Over a month ago CHW sent a repair technician to fix both of my garage doors, the technician made an adjustment on one door and chanced the opener on the other. A week or so ago the second door failed to open. Yes, my door opener is old, but the Warrantee says, if it can’t be fixed it will be replaced. CHW paid the tech $100 and said the rest $200 is on me. Please tell me why I should stay with CHW if I have to pay 2/3rds of the cost to replace the door opener? On a separate issue: Granted I accepted CHW’s offer of a Lowe’s card to replace my dishwasher, because I was unaware of how much dishwashers sell for, it cost me an additional 300. Again, please give me a reason for staying with CHW"

"While I was assuming I'd be impressed with the services provided by Jason and his crew, and they did do a reasonably good job, I was shocked when I received the final bill, which was for more than twice the original estimate. Yes, when they arrived I did ask Jason to do some additional tasks, and it was an oversight on my part to not ask for a revised estimate. However, I believe it's also the responsibility of the provider to offer an updated estimate when the client adds work to the project. I've never hired a gardener or landscaper before. If I'd known my new requests would mean the final bill was going to be more than twice the original estimate, I would have done the work myself!
When I called to ask why the bill was so high, Jason called me back and berated me in a semi-angry tone in a voicemail message. He was apparently assuming I wasn't going to pay up, but that was never my intention. This was, unfortunately, unwarranted and unprofessional behavior, and surprising from someone who otherwise seems like a good guy.
Hopefully this will be a learning experience for both of us.
