"Decided to hire John Donohue Paving because he was in neighborhood and was going to do both our driveway and neighbors which are adjoining. We were planning to have a new roof installed in two weeks so we were reluctant to get new paved driveway because of possible damage due to heavy equipment. Mr. Donohue assured us that if damage was done he would be able to repair it. We decided to have driveway repaved and the job was very well done - finished driveway looked awesome. A week later roof is installed and some damage was done to driveway. I contacted him to perform repairs. I called him the following Tuesday and let him know about the damage. He said he would be out the next week to make repairs at no cost to us. He did come out the following week and made several "patches" where the damage was done. His crew did miss two spots where their still was some damage. My wife contacted him and he said he would repair that last spot and also seal the driveway for free. I will update this review when he completes this but given he already came back out once I am confident he will again. Hopefully after sealing the new (and repaired) driveway it will look like it did after his original install a month ago. I would recommend him as his company did excellent work for us and our neighbors."

"Did excellent work. They did exactly what they said and were able to work around a side walk we installed and make sure it was flush with the side walk. "I hired this company to come out and pave my gravel driveway which is about 3300 Sq Ft, so it is a fairly decent driveway, not a short one. They arrived within the described time I wanted them to show up so my wife could run out and run back before they showed up which worked out. They started by leveling out the gravel and getting it ready and all looked good. They laid out a string and marked a line in a couple different spots. At this point I am thinking, great professional company. As they started to lay the asphalt they were laying it thick as we agreed on a 2.5 inch layer before being compacted, great. The issues starting to rise when they were tamping the edge at a 45 degree angle, this is where the job fell apart in my eyes. The actual paving of the drive way looks smooth and consistent, the edges on the other hand is a completely different story. There is no consistency to how they put down the 45 degree angle. You would think that the orange line that they sprayed on the gravel would be a good marker to use to keep the asphalt in line but instead they laid the asphalt along the edge of where they leveled the gravel which was all over the place and into the grass. If you look down the edge of either side of my driveway it looks like a wavy line, not just lightly but bad, it does not looks smooth at all. I took a picture and sent it to the owner, Wayne, about having an issue with fit and finish. I never got a response but I did have Kevin and a couple crew members show back up at my door all up in arms about the job and full of attitude. I discussed with Kevin about the issues with the edge of the driveway and how inconsistent it looked and all he could tell me was, and these are his words, œlooks like the edge of a driveway to me. They went back to the truck and grabbed a torch and a rake, one of the guys asked for the tamper and Kevin said he did no™t have it, why would you show up at my door without the right equipment? I will be posting this same review on yelp so head over there and look up this company, look for my review and you will see the pictures that I have taken and you tell me what you think. I wi™ll give it to one of the crew members though; Kenny, passionate about his job it seems as he tried to fix the other guys mistakes as he understood that his mark was getting left on this driveway. I asked him why it turned out this way and he told me that he is only one person and that his crew is pretty lazy. Kenny also walked down the edge of the driveway shaking his head as he told me that they are supposed to clean up the edges to make it look nice and they did not. My wife is all upset and I am pretty disappointed in the fit and finish of this job. You would think with all the experience that this company claims to have, I would have a nicely finished driveway rather than a crew that showed up and was in a hurry to get home rather to do the job right. "John was quick in providing me with an estimate and presenting me with a thorough brief on what I could expect. He recommended repair vs a fully new asphalt driveway as one other had recommended. While determining which of the three contractors to hire, John stopped by to follow up and offered to complete it right then while his crew was in the area if that is what we wanted. I said yes, and by the time we returned home we had a newly surfaced driveway with excellent results at a good price. He even did my neighbor after mine the same day."
