"Met with contractor who provided me a great price and was able to get the work done when he said he would. Crew came out for work and did a great job in building me my grill patio. When I looked to get more work done, I knew exactly who I would be hiring for the job and had them come back out for a new estimate for a new walkway. Can't wait to see how the new walkway turns out. "They were great. Answered my email request for an estimate immediately. Came out to my property soon after email and inspected my driveway. I had some cracking on my 4 year old driveway from this past harsh winter....I was very concerned how to correct the damage and prevent further damage to it. He discussed this with me personally and gave me a quote. I called to accept their bid and they arranged to come out less than a week later. The two men who came to crack fill and seal driveway came to the door and we discussed the crack concerns. The "foreman" was very professional and knowledgable when discussing my options and what he felt would work best to fill the crumbling edges and crack through the center of the driveways do how it would look after they were finished. I was truly impressed! I was very happy with the finished look of my driveway. The cracks and fill look solid and the overall seal coat was hand spread and looks fantastic. I will be calling them again in two years when it is time to sealcoat again. <br />"

"Everything went really well.Paul came down to the house in july and gave me a estimate on ripping out the inside concrete of the garage and ripping out the driveway and replacing that, and replacing some of the sidewalk a previous contractor messed up.Paul's guy's are professional and know what their doing.Paul himself is a great guy to work with.If you have any question's he's easy to get a hold of.The work turned out pretty sweet--compared to the last contractor that I had---"PAUL WAS A GODSEND"I'm looking to hire on paul in the future to replace the front sidewalk and a few other things around the house. The only problem that I had was one of paul's guys accidently hit the top part of my garage door opening with the skeed steer. The one gent in charge tried to patch it up and I told him he would have to repair it like new. With no argument that's what he did.It was only maybe a foot length damage. They got the material and even painted it for me.i'd give paul and his crew an A overall."

"Excellent. The price was very fair. The guys were detailed, professional and punctual. The job was done in less than a week. They cleaned up every day they were done working and when you are busting up concrete it is a messy job. I felt comfortable leaving them in my home to do the work when I was not there. I would call them again if the need ever arises."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Garden-prairie, IL

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
