Graves Brothers Home Improvement has been locally-owned and operated in Upstate N.Y. since 1977. As one of the fastest growing businesses in the region, they offer their residential and commercial clients Roofing, Siding, Windows, and other Home Improvement services. Graves is a nationally-recognized contractor that has been repeatedly named a Top 100 company in the region as well as one of the top 500 home improvement companies in the United States, annual Angie’s List certification holder, countless product certifications, and more. Graves Brothers services Upstate and Western New York and the Finger Lakes Region from their facilities in Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse.
"The positive: Graves Brothers will provide a quote for PARTIAL Siding projects where most companies won't talk to you unless you need a FULL Siding project. The installation team was quick and did a nice job. The Cons: Deceptive Sales. Your Typical Residential Home Services contactor. I had a complete east side siding replacement quoted. There is a 24" "Jog wall" between the exterior garage wall and the living quarters wall. Their quote included photos that show this wall in one of the views. A second photo shows the entire length of the wall outlined that includes this jog wall, but they did not replace the siding on this wall. A conversation BEFORE the project work started questioned if I intended on having the wall replaced and it was agreed that it should have been part of the proposal. The installers DID NOT replace the siding on this wall. I asked for a simple $500 credit and was willing to settle for a $350 credit which was more than fair. The Salesman insisted that seeing the wall was not assigned a "wall number" therefore it was not included in their proposal. Graves Brothers displayed ZERO interest in coming to a mutual agreement on the discrepancy. Update 7/19/2024: After continued conversations, the Sales Rep finally conceded that after speaking with his installers, that the work WAS included in the initial estimate and should have been completed. I gave Graves Brothers the option of discounting the price or returning to finish the work. They chose to finish the work which is scheduled this week. IMO, Speaking to his installation team should have been done PRIOR to him taking a flat stance with me that they were right and I was wrong. Give Graves Brothers Home Improvements a 3-Star rating for (finally) doing what was right. The installation was done well and the installers were professional, courteous and cleaned up well. Just make sure you document all conversations and get them in writing up front."

"We are so glad we picked High Peaks Contracting to construct our deck. From the design, which was well suited for our home and exactly what wanted but could never put on paper to the actual construction. It looks amazing and adds so much value to our home. We have been fantasizing about adding a deck for a few years and to finally see it completed with someone who was so easy to work with was amazing. I know this is something these people do all the time but they treated us and our project like it was the most important project they had! We were informed daily as to where we were in the project and the crew was easy to work with as well. Using a contractor is scary but Keith and his team took away the fear factor! High Peaks Contracting is the company we will continue to use and refer our family and friends to in the future."

"We were extremely pleased with the entire process of having a new roof installed. Ron was very pleasant and promptly came to our house. He gave us a very fair estimate, from which he later subtracted the promised discount for mentioning Angie's List. His crew was prompt, pleasant, and professional. They worked steadily and cleaned up the surroundings not only after the first day, but after the second and final day. Everything was done to our satisfaction. We would highly recommend the company."

The cost of Dryvit stucco varies depending on factors such as the size of your home, its design complexity, and the chosen finish options. Your stucco contractor can provide a precise quote based on the specifics and complexity of your project. Professional installation is crucial for maximizing the performance and ensuring the lasting durability of your stucco siding.
Maintaining your stucco is easy with a few simple steps. Periodically wash it with a garden hose, avoiding high-powered pressure washers that could damage the finish. Start from the bottom and spray upward, then rinse back down. Don't forget to regularly inspect your stucco for cracks or holes and repair them promptly to maintain its appearance.
The primary difference between stucco and parging lies in their purpose and application. Stucco is a full exterior wall finish that provides aesthetic appeal and insulation for your home. Parging, on the other hand, is a protective coating applied to foundations and lower walls to prevent moisture and pest infiltration. While parging focuses on structural protection, stucco offers a decorative and durable finish for entire walls.
Common issues with stucco include water absorption, which can lead to efflorescence— a white, powdery substance — cracking, and occasionally mold or stains in damp conditions. These problems often result from environmental factors or installation errors. Regular inspections and timely repairs can help keep your stucco in top shape and prevent costly damage.
The best type of stucco for extreme weather conditions is synthetic stucco. It offers enhanced durability and resistance to rapid temperature changes and extreme conditions. Synthetic stucco performs well in harsh climates, minimizing the risks of cracking and moisture penetration to ensure your home stays protected even in severe environmental conditions.
In addition to stucco, there are several alternative siding options to consider. These include metal, wood, brick, stone veneer, vinyl, and fiber cement siding. Each comes with unique benefits. For example, vinyl is cost-effective and low-maintenance, while wood provides a natural aesthetic. The best choice depends on your design preferences, durability needs, and maintenance considerations.
