"This was our first experience with a major remodel project. Hearing horror stories from others ended up delaying our project for about 3 years. I'm glad I believe that everything happens for a reason though - because we ended up connected to Chris and CBL Construction! Our first meeting with Chris and his crew, we were comfortable and felt our project was in great hands. Chris was great with communication - a HUGE deal - we were never left in the dark wondering what is going on or when. Chris was not only professional, but friendly and a pleasure to know. He spent time explaining his process and managing (my) expectations with material choices (he was fantastic educating me on this). His knowledge was apparent and left us with zero worries. His line item quote and billing process made for a zero surprise payment process. In the end, my bathroom is beautiful and I couldn't be any happier. The only downside....? Now I have to work on the bedroom so I don't want to sleep in the bathroom - haha! We will for sure be calling on Chris and CBL Construction in the future and will refer anyone who asks. "Are, project manager for Finecraft, promised a 6 day finish time but took over 2 ½ weeks. Our oak floor was damaged when masking tape holding paper walkway was removed taking Swedish finish with it. We have stripes from front door to back door and have to have the entire floor screened and recoated costing us $2,000. Workers never communicated with us about problems that arose. They appear not to have been given appropriate equipment to cut the large porcelain tiles. They made repeated measuring/cutting errors so took several days to cut the 15 tile sections needed. The cut edges are ragged and in some cases, have chipped corners and were set unevenly. No one communicated that they were going to use an edge trim product other than porcelain for the edges nor that we could choose the color of that product. Someone just chose white rather than match the tile and it looks terrible around the edge of the shower and pony wall and particularly framing the shampoo niche. The shower floor tile was not cleaned of the excess grout and is dulled and coarse. The pieced-in floor tile between the toilet and new pony wall was done poorly with uneven spacing and will require removal and resetting to be remedied. We were very unhappy with the result and with the attitude taken by Ari the project manager minimizing the damage to the oak floor and the quality of the work. He lamented that the extra cost of plumbing work had reduced Finecraft s profit on the job even though his big sales pitch was that no change order costs would be charged if unexpected conditions were encountered. He overpromised on this project, did not provide the skilled workmen necessary and did not communicate sufficiently with us or with his workers as the job proceeded. In summary: this company did not do a quality job, failed to discuss options and problems as they arose, damaged an unrelated part of our house and was incapable of fixing its errors. We settled for $1000 off a total of $16000. That was not adequate compensation but we did not want this company working in our house any more."

"I am a repeat customer, so I knew the carpenter, Joe, coming in. I started by using their design contractor. I gave her the colors and ideas (beach theme, ceramic wood-look floor tiles), and she pulled the rest together. Invaluable because I can't trust my own taste. They removed a square shower in the corner and a set of shelves next to it, and glassed in that end of the room for a full shower. We put tile down along the whole room, with a recessed shower pan, and a linear drain against the wall. Joe built-in medicine cabinets, and trim all around the room, per my design pictures. The subs included a glass door guy, the plumber, the tiler, painter, and the countertop slab tiler. We also had some work done in our hallway. They removed the single boob light from the middle, and installed two recessed lights on either end, along with putting two switch boxes on either end of the hallway. Joe built a floor to ceiling cabinet in a 13” dead space at the end of the hallway, which included a laundry hamper on tracks, cubbies, and shelves. And then on a whim, I asked to have our old hallway linen cupboard doors replaced to match the new ones. We had two leaks during and after, but one reason I would use them again, is how they handled both times. One was a leak from the plug on the toilet supply. We found it on a Saturday morning, and I ended up waking up our carpenter with my text. He came out and figured it out and fixed it by 1. The other one was after everything was done and cleaned up, and we had paid for everything. The basement bathroom ceiling, fan, and wall below the master was wet one day, and we realized a joint in the pipe from the master toilet to the stack was slowly dripping between the two rooms. I texted Joe again, and he referred me to our GC, who came out with a plumber and fixed it. They had to make a hole in the downstairs drywall, so he has been coming back regularly to put three layers of mud on the new drywall. I was so sure that they would regretfully find that it wasn't their fault and we would have to deal with the cost and bother of finding a plumber and carpenter. Start to finish, it took about four months, but three weeks of that was the initial tile order, and another three for an incorrect tile order."

In addition to the bathroom, I had a soundproof wall installed between the two units, new flooring throughout and complete interior paint. Zach and his team did a fantastic job. They had to tear the bathroom down to the studs, due to rot; and rebuild the structure. The bathroom turned out beautiful. The old flooring was in bad shape which required removal, the floor leveled, and new flooring installed. It is now better than ever. He returned all communications within a few minutes. It could not have been an easier, smoother or a more enjoyable process. Best of all the unit looks fantastic and was rented immediately.
