"We recently worked with LSVG Electrics to install our Philips Hue smart recessed lights into our family room. To start, the electricians from LSVG were fantastic. They arrived promptly and began by walking through the plan, answering any and all questions along the way. Since we had no existing ceiling lights they had to run all new wiring, map out the placement perfectly, and handle ceiling cuts. They did all this flawlessly - so well done we did not even need to patch or repaint the ceiling. The fixtures sit completely flush, and the Philips Hue system provides incredible brightness as well as amazing color customization. LSVG made sure all wiring was up to code, provided a warranty and verified the lights were all communicating properly with each other as well as the Hue app before leaving. They cleaned up as much as they could of any slight mess they created during installation. The whole process was very seamless and stress-free! We look forward to workin with them again."

"WIN Universal was awesome! He showed up when I expected him to and got to work right away. He verified the circuits and replaced the Breaker with a GFCI Breaker to protect all of outlets in my Kitchen. I plan to use him for all future electrical work."

"Daniel addressed a not so straightforward switch replacement that I had botched. Not only did have to install it right but also had to diagnose and replace the circuit breaker in the panel. He also had to further diagnose a wire that had been melted and address that as well. He showed great problem solving skills, cleaned up and was extremely professional and friendly. Even though the job took much longer than expected, he still only charged what he had initially stated. Would hire again."

"Oscars knowledge of electric wiring and stud location came into use when the stud finder was acting up. He made me feel confident in his action plan to mount our TV (82 ). He did what it took to get the job done and came with all the necessary tools to do so. I would recommend Oscar to anyone reading this review and have already suggested him to family and friends."

"Most recent project: Barrington Electric and their team inspected all the electrical outlets, replaced the damaged ones, corrected fuses that had been wired incorrectly and were not the same manufacturer, installed four new light fixtures, and added an outlet above the fireplace. They demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and a strong commitment to quality workmanship. I highly recommend them for any electrical projects."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Gilberts, IL

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
