"We got estimates from several contractors. CSRA Concrete was the lowest, but the determining factors were his enthusiasm, promptness and positive reviews on Angie's list. After the initial estimate was submitted, I asked if Claude would come out one more time to confirm the scope of the work and the price. Claude did not hesitate to come back out. I made a few changes to the scope of work which required an adjustment of the estimate. Claude was very accommodating. This was on a Friday or Saturday. He and his crew arrived Monday morning and began work. I had requested a slick pad in the shelter and broomed cement every where else. This was done. In addition, I had requested particular attention be taken to control the rain water runoff. Claude's crew did a great job in making sure the water flowed correctly and was directed appropriately off the concrete. The work was completed on Wednesday and I'm very happy with the results. I lowered the rating from A to B for quality based on the fact that the pad beside the pole barn had to be cleared of trees and brush and dug out. This was done, however, Claude chose not to clear back any further than the edge of the pour. There was lots of undergrowth and a substantial tree there and a bank was created which I will now have to smooth back and clear the trees and brush further back. I had not included this in the scope of work and Claude did not think it necessary so I let it go and will do the additional clearing and grading soon. In addition, Claude is a hand shake and cash kind of guy who requires up front funding to pay for the concrete as it is delivered, so all the concrete was paid on delivery by us in cash and the remainder paid to Claude in cash on completion. I created an estimate sheet for him to sign, an additional change order which I signed, then had him sign receipts for each of the cash dispersals. This he did readily and with good humor. Claude is sometimes hard to understand (he talks very fast), but is very pleasant to work with and the crew was very good too.

"Everything went well from start to finish. First, Dallas came to give us an estimate based on our needs. He was very thorough, measuring and taking pictures of the affected areas of the house and its corresponding support in the cellar. He also mapped out a chart for the crew so they would know exactly where to work and what needed to be done. The day the work began, Dallas was here to coordinate with the 3-man crew. There was constant communication between us, checking floors, etc., as they went along, and they replaced the dirt and vapor barrier when they were through. We are very pleased, and would highly recommend them to anyone needing their services!"

FAQs for concrete delivery projects in Girard, GA

The amount of concrete you need varies by project. One 80lb bag covers an area of about 2 square feet, for a slab 4 inches thick. Two 60lb bags of concrete cover an area of about 2 square feet for a slab that is 6 inches thick.

A truckload of concrete can usually hold a maximum of 10 cubic yards.

The cost of concrete per cubic yard depends on which brand you purchase, but usually costs about $110 for bags.

It takes about 41 bags of concrete to fill a cubic yard. Always plan to buy a few bags more than the exact required amount in case of mistakes.

To calculate the amount of concrete you need for a slab, you should find the cubic yardage of the area you will be filling. Just follow these steps:

  1. Measure the area in feet.

  2. Multiply length by width, and then by thickness.

  3. Divide the resulting number by 27 to find cubic yards.
