"My experience working with North Star Construction was top-notch. Mica, my primary contact through the project, was great to work with. It was nice to get progress status updates and detailed photos from her via email almost daily. Communication was good. They were responsive, professional, and the work they did looks really sharp. Final cost turned out to be more than estimated due to some rot discovered during the job, but I would certainly recommend NSC to anyone needing a quality re-roofing."

"Son came to my house and brought a sample of the type of solar roofing they use on residential homes, and went over every detail thoroughly when it came to pricing, financing options, remove old shingles and installation of new shingles and solar panels. Started my roof a few days after and now I'm saving money on my electricity, I have a beautiful roof and Home Squad has been very responsive to my questions on the amount of power generated etc. I wouldn’t recommend any other company for solar, Home Squad is the real deal."

"After reaching out to several companies for a plan and quote on a custom deck and fence install for our house, it was almost immediately clear that Bluegrass stood out among the rest - frequent and convenient communication from the office (call, text, email - whatever works for you). Project managers were available to be on-site for questions and adjustments leading up to the work being done. With other contractors, I often feel like once you say "yes" and pay the deposit, they forget about you until the work starts -- not the case here. The quote itself was on the higher end, but not by much -- and judging by the prior work photos, it seemed worth it. "Worth it" was an understatement -- the deck and fence turned out absolutely beautiful. It's better than I planned or hoped. You can tell these teams know what they're doing and truly care about the work, often suggesting things along the way to improve the final product. I couldn't be happier with the result, and I strongly recommend this company -- I know I'll place them at the top of my list for future projects."

"The team reacted very quickly to our call. After a quick inspection they found that the attic wasn’t properly vantilated. The roof ridge vents were all replaced and additional vents were install. All was done in a timely and professional manner, and at a reasonable cost. It took only a few days for the attic to completely dry, and the change in air flow was well noticed."

"We had a roof leak dripping from a window casement. I contacted Mike through Angie's List on a Sunday morning. Not only was he here within the hour and fixed the leak-he wouldn't accept payment for his services. He was probably here 20 minutes. He discovered a spot where a tree branch had punctured the roofing. That kind of service today is hard to come by, to say the least. I will hire and recommend Mike and Krown Roofing to ALL of my friends. Thank you Mike! A+++++"

"EcoHome Service replaced our roof in summer of 2018. The owner came to meet with us prior to the job and thoroughly walked through the options and process. Once we signed, the job was scheduled promptly. They dropped the dumpster in our driveway a bit early, but the job was done from demo, to plywood replacement (significant for our job), and new roof all in one day. Remarkable. I walked the roof with the lead crew member after the job and thoroughly reviewed their work. No concerns whatsoever. The owner later came back to walk around with us and answer additional questions. We then paid the final invoice and started enjoying our new roof. We later added gutters using a contractor EcoHome recommended. We feel fortunate to have found a reputable company in EcoHome and we enthusiastically recommend them for roof replacements."

"Miguel was amazing. Prompt, helpful, effective. He diagnosed the issue, made the repair, and gave me full back up information for insurance. When there was a subsequent problem he came right back and fixed the problem (not related to his work) at no additional cost. He was very informative and left me much more knowledgeable about my roof and construction. Would highly recommend."

"The results were extraordinary.  The project took a few days longer than expected, but that didn't bother us, as we would rather get the project done correctly rather than rush it.  The roof looks great. Josh was at our home every other day to give me an update on the work that had been done that day, and what was ahead.  I was on the roof almost daily after the workers left so I could see progress and all the items that we discussed were done.
It was very professional job, well coordinated, no surprises, and Josh came in on budget, which isn't always the case with contractors.  Josh was professional throughout.  He communicated with us frequently and thoroughly.  Like I said, there were no surprises and the results exceeded my expectations.  I was just on the roof yesterday, and the roof felt really solid underneath my feet (no soft spots) and the installation was well done.
I would highly recommend Josh and Ameriserv.

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Granite Falls, WA

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
