"This was our fist experience with Spaid/Dennis: Totally professional and Excellent work ethic. Good combination of FRIENDLY BUT NO NON-SENSE. Very cooperative as I needed to work around him.....cross braces were needed at certain locations to enable his installation, I did not know in advance where he would need them. Also, he was accommodating as I needed to tack-in a couple of pieces of (pre-cut and test-fitted) drywall for the vanity and toilet before he installed the shut-off valves. I had the responsibility being ready and prepared for sake of not getting in his way and to not hold-up his progress: so if you plan on doing something similar, DON'T ABUSED THEIR GOOD-WILL WITH YOUR INEFFICIENCY. We will definitely hire Spaid (and ask for Dennis if possible) again."

"I received my radon results in a timely manner. I did not hire them specifically, (so, I cannot say I would hire them again) the local company contracted them for this service. The home inspector I hired, handled this service for me and included the results in his report."

"Called Arteman's on a rainy day in November, he happened to be available so he came right over.  The other company had left our house with no front entry door, because they just replace doors.  Arteman was a hero that day!  He replaced the rotten beam under the threshold.  He also noted that the tiled entry way was incorrectly installed (previous owner's DIYproject) and he removed the tile as it was sitting on water damaged particle board and interfering with the repair of the threshold. <br /> The company we bought our door from finished installing the door. <br /> We called Arteman's again, because there was a gap between where the door had been installed and where the stoop steps were, leaving his repair exposed.  He came over, within a day or two and filled the gap with a some type of sealer.  The area is not leaking and with this crazy winter we're so grateful for his good work. <br />   I do have a minor gripe though, we wanted him to install new tile for us since our landing now was just plywood since he had taken up the old tile.   I went to the store he recommended to get tile, but none of the tile there appealed to me.  I purchased tile at Lowes.  When he saw the tile, he told us that he wouldn't be able to put it in for another three months.  That seemed like a dodge to me. If he didn't want to put it in, I would have appreciated just a simple "no."  But to be fair he had fit us into his schedule in an emergency and I'm grateful.  Anyhow, I couldn't wait, because to paraphrase the Stark's, "Winter was Coming."  I put it in myself, apparently our landing is homeowner DIY territory.  <br /> All in all Arteman's was great to work with.  Showed up when he said he would.  Completed the job in a quick period of time.  Charged appropriately. <br />"

"It was great. I have had subsequent services, I had ordered some stuff and there were no problems with that. I have never owned a septic tank but when we bought the house that is what it came with.  It is a family-owned business and so he basically told me and explained everything to me, so I felt pretty okay with them taking care of my septic tank from here on, then. I know a thing or two about septic system and I would not hesitate for them to take care of my stuff here. They were pretty quick, very easy to talk to, our next-door neighbor kind of deal. I don’t remember the price because it has been a while but if it wasn’t reasonable, I would probably remember it."

"I was frustrated that they didn't cover our garbage disposal and they didn't cover the thermostat, otherwise everything we did there was great. I didn't have any problems. It's $50 a month, and then everything is covered. You don't have to pay for people to come out. When our hot water heater broke, we had to pay for the new water heater, but that just for the actual thing, not anything else like the service or installation."

"The removal of the old boiler and installation of the new one went very well. I hardly even knew the technicians were working in the basement except when they were moving the old boiler out. It took them approximately eight our total. This was more than just a removal and replacement. The new boiler is much more advanced in technology and has more modern features than the old one. The new one has auto water fill, auto air purge device, electronic ignition, electric damper. Very nice compared to the old clunky noisy boiler.  The new boiler heats the house about ten times faster than the old one. Maintains temperature more consistently and doesn't have to run as long and hard as the old boiler. It is almost silent and is hard to tell it is even running. I haven't had the new boiler long enough yet to compare heating bills, but so far I do expect my heating bills to be lower.  <br /> <br /> Overall, I'm very please with Emberton Plumping and Heating. Very reasonable price, high quality materials, very good work and leave the area clean after completion. Jim Emberton is a very honest and friendly man. I will recommend him to everyone I know! <br /> <br />"

"We hired SAL to install new ceramic tile floors in our hall bath, master bath, & master hallway. They also put in new 3/4 cherry hardwood floors in my master bedroom. The craftsmanship was immaculate. He shows up on time, worked on my job everyday till it was done, cleaned up at the end of the day, & most importantly was very respectful to me & my family. I am so pleased with the work that I would recommend SAL to everyone!!!! Great work, great price, great guy!!! <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Graymont, IL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
