"Looking for a company to work with on some major and minor house renovations and repairs, I found Two by Four Construction through a special on Angie?s list.  I was contacted immediately and Gary came out to review my list of projects and discuss what could be completed and helped me develop a list of any other items needed for purchase before the renovations/repairs. Gary was incredibly helpful and positive and we set up a date for two weeks hence. <br /> Two members of Gary?s team, Ralph and Bethany, arrived promptly at 7:30 as scheduled; we reviewed the work to be done and they immediately laid drop clothes to cover the rug and tile areas for traffic.  Their work style and manner were impeccable. <br /> Bethany, Tile Lady Extraordinaire, discussed the project before starting and made sure she knew exactly what I wanted.  She was incredibly knowledgeable and had the best ideas to offer -- some of which we used in the project.  Bethany tiled and grouted my kitchen backslash and replaced the electrical plates, smoothed out a rough patch of drywall at the backsplash site, and replaced the kitchen blinds.  She was methodical and patient; her work was precise, neat and beautiful.  I couldn?t have asked for more.  <br /> The handymen replaced numerous light fixtures and water faucets, installed a vent cover, and repaired a storm door frame which had not closed or locked properly for several years.  <br /> I was so pleased with the completed projects, the standard of the work, as well as the professional demeanor of Two by Four Construction?s employees.  I will use them again in the future.  <br /> <em>Two by Four Construction has my appreciation and trust.  Hats off to Gary and staff!</em> <br />"

"Mike and his crew renovated our basement bathroom and laundry room in 2015. They built a full bathroom including brand new plumbing and a new laundry room. Their work in the basement was beautiful, came in at budget, and stood the test of time, so we had them back for our kitchen and upstairs bathroom in early 2019 to finish all of the major renovations in our 1952 townhouse. Communication with Mike and Davis was great, we always knew what to expect which was crucial for such a large project. Their crew is respectful, taking off their shoes and sweeping up everyday, covering furniture, etc. They are proud of their work and it shows. We love our new kitchen and bathroom! We highly recommend Nicholas and Associates!"

"We are extremely happy with the work done by Thomas Custom Builders (TCB). Overall they did an amazing and outstanding job! They had a contractor on site, on time every day. Brian S. was professional, helpful, patient, hard working and skilled both in managing subcontractors and doing work himself. I trusted him with our home and would work with Brian/TCB again easily. I have already recommended their company to others. TCB renovated a few parts of our house, added electricity to a shed and added an entire master bedroom suite on an additional floor (adding approximately 550 sqft to our house). They finished earlier than expected. Our neighbors couldn't believe how fast the addition was completed and how well done. Any additional costs from the original budget estimate were due to our choice to add more work. I waited to write a review. I wanted to live in the addition for a little while to see how everything holds up. We have had only minor things arise and have been very pleased with the responsiveness of Brian and TCB to come back out and check on things. They came back to add a bracket to a new countertop that moved slightly, they shaved a door that was sticking as the weather changed, they fixed the damage done when carpets were installed by another company, they arranged for a rep from the hot water heater company to come out and fix a noise issue, all done at no additional cost to us. I have worked with contractors before but nothing on this level. It wasn't perfect, there were concerns that came up. I had to learn that this was major construction and with major construction comes mess. Brian and his team addressed our concerns and remedied any issue fairly. With so many negative stories I've heard from people who worked with other companies, I am so very thankful that we had such a good experience and ended up with such an amazing master suite and changes to our home. We love it and we receive many compliments. We chose to work with TCB because they came highly recommended by a neighbor who had similar work done and were very satisfied with their outcome."

"Matt's crew completely renovated our kitchen & two upstairs bathrooms.  In the kitchen they removed all old cabinets, fixtures, counters, and both tile & wood flooring.  Then they installed new cabinets, travertine backsplash, granite countertops, new sink & fixtures, new hardwood floors, relocated ceiling pot lights, & painted all walls & trim.  All work was top notch! <br /> For our two upstairs bathrooms, his crew completely removed all tile & walls from the shower & bathtub areas; removed old tile flooring and cabinets; removed outdated medicine cabinets. They installed new walls, tiles, tub, shower & bath plumbing fixtures; installed new cabinets, sink/countertop, sink fixtures, tile flooring, and new light fixtures; and painted all walls & trim.  Our master bathroom is small with a shower only, so we were very determined to find a way to add some additional storage without taking up room.  Matt was able to find the space and add an additional tall cabinet inset into the wall that turned out perfect!  <br /> They also replaced the hardwood flooring in the front entryway and painted all walls & trim in our living room/dining room.  Upstairs they installed beautiful crown molding in the master bedroom, painted walls, and installed new doors on closet & bath.  <br /> Matt is the nicest guy ever and so easy to work with.  He was very helpful with suggestions and patient with all our questions and changes.  His crew was hardworking, skilled, and professional.  Matt was able to craft some amazing solutions to design issues that we encountered (such as fitting the larger double sink we wanted into the (smaller) base cabinet we had purchased).  All work was completed within his 2 week estimate, and he was always very responsive to calls.  Our new kitchen and bathrooms are amazing and we are very happy with the renovation.  We would definitely used him again for any additional work we need!"

"This was definitely a 5 star operation from the initial discussions to the finishing touches! For a major renovation and upgrade to our master bathroom we reviewed potential contractors and their customer comments. VKB stood out. Our VKB designer Sean clearly has artistic talent and lots of design experience. He patiently worked with us, showing us 3D design options as we considered alternative configurations and materials. When we were satisfied with the design, Sean transitioned us smoothly to the build phase, introducing Jason as our project manager and Walter as our crew chief. Sean personally familiarized Jason with the project, inviting us to share our thoughts and any concerns. During the renovation, Walter and his crew would carefully isolate the MBR work from the rest of the house, sealing off the room and path to the front door with plastic barriers and floor coverings every morning and remove them every evening. Everyone was polite and sensitive to our living space. Jason was responsive to our wishes to refine several design aspects as the work proceeded, and Walter and his crew smoothly made the alterations. After the main construction was completed Jason remained very attentive to our ‘punch list’ of remaining details and our questions until all had been resolved. Walter ensured very high-quality work down to the finest detail. All the work from design to completion was well within the timeframe we had hoped. In the end, we have a beautiful MBR well beyond our original expectations!"

"I highly recommend City Renovations and Remodeling to new and experienced homeowners and investors. In fact, Mike Wiggs, owner of the company, was highly recommended to me from a trusted source. Mike has been my designer, general contractor and project manager for over three years. He and his team of subcontractors for all the trades and handymen have successfully completed numerous projects for me. The internal big jobs included Mike and his team remodeling my basement into a permitted apartment with an egress window, injection well system, and recessed lighting; remodeling my kitchen into a larger space, better layout and upgraded appliances, cabinets, backsplashes (e.g., switching from an electric cooktop island to a slide-in gas range and installing a peninsula); changing the location of the sliding door and a set of windows in my sunroom for better flow and sightline from the front door entry to the patio door leading to my wooded backyard; replacing the damaged one of the two HVAC systems (i.e., one for the first floor and basement and the other for the second floor); and whole house interior painting and decorative touches (accent walls, trim, etc.) The external big jobs included Mike and his team resolving the sources of severe water damage to my two-story front door entry area and installing a new door, side lites and stoop. He resolved other water problems at my house by installing upgraded, larger gutters connecting to a new underground drainage system, and re-grading a section of the backyard next to my house in order to better collect water coming onto the house and move it away from the house. The other jobs Mike and his team completed include installing decorative lighting in the front of my house and security lighting at the sides and back; installing and repairing wooden privacy fencing in my backyard; washing away years of mold, mildew and stains from the siding of my house; and installing shelving for two closets and the laundry room to increase my storage space. After years of City Renovations and Remodeling successfully improving or repairing my home, I hired the company to help me with an investment rental property. Mike completed a walk-thru assessment and report to supplement the information from the home inspector and appraiser. Through my pre-purchase consultation with Mike, I got a good idea of what it would take improve the property given my goals and budget.
