"Ultimately, I was happy with the results. But there were multiple challenges with the project. We wanted to partially remodel two bathrooms. For bathroom #1, we were replacing the tub/shower; replacing the vanity, mirror, and medicine cabinet; installing new lights and fan; and smoothing a textured ceiling. For bathroom #2, we were replacing a tub (only); replacing the vanity, mirrors, and medicine cabinet; installing new lights and fan; and smoothing a textured ceiling. The bathrooms had to be done in sequence since we needed one working bathroom. The sales process went fine. Contract signed in April. Work started at the end of June. Work was completed in mid October. The materials used were good: We like the vanity, and the countertop (from Granite Direct) is fine. There were three main problems: 1. Scheduling/staffing. I appreciate that the project manager accommodated our schedules. But the company (like many others) is short-handed. So there were many days were someone would be on site for an hour or two, and then not back again for several days. This project should not have taken 3.5 months to complete. (One example of the slowness: It took something like 8 days to install subway tile in one bath area. That was one person, working 3-4 hours per day. And no one else was working on anything else at that time.) 2. Communication. The communication between SemBro and us was good. But the communication among workers was poor. In many cases, we had to tell the workers what they needed to do—project details had not been communicated. There were also issues in which the company had not acquired (or even ordered) the parts we needed, which caused delays. 3. Skill level. This might be the case with many contracting firms, but few of the individual workers were skilled in the tasks they had to perform. We didn't have plumbers or electricians; we had people who generally understood how to hook up a sink or install a light. As a result, there were several problems. For example, the first tub was hooked up incorrectly. And it leaked into a third, downstairs bathroom, ruining the ceiling and walls. SemBro repaired that ceiling and wall (which I appreciate), but I still had to repaint everything, and of course, there were delays and inconveniences as the project now covered a third bathroom. Another example: One team installed the wrong kind of lights in one bathroom. And while doing so, they carved holes in the drywall that were too large. They later tried to "fix" this with calk. I had to remove the caulk, then patch and repaint the ceiling. Later, I will hire an actual electrician to install different lights. Another example: The sink in bathroom #1 leaked after installation. Another example: The sinks in bathroom #2, which had been off for more than a month (because of project delays), clogged and leaked. I called in a plumber and drain un-clogger. (The clog is not strictly SemBro's fault, but if the sink had not been off for a month, it might not have happened.) Toward the end of the project, it seemed like each time a team arrived, one task would be completed and another problem would be created. So, again, happy with the results. But after more than a quarter of a year working on this project, it's difficult to recommend SemBro."

"We couldn’t be happier. The upstairs is beautiful. Tim kept everything cleaned up while working, showed up promptly and kept sub use to a minimum . Everyone who worked in our home went out of their way to make sure we understood all work, and were polite and respectful. Phase 1 went so well that we have hired Tim to do phase 2 - take the kitchen back to studs, move it to a new location, create a laundry room (it’s out of the basement now Yea!) and walk-in pantry, new half bath, change all electrical to white, wood floors, all new doors, new baseboards and crown molding. We are part way through phase 2 and couldn’t be happier. Our home is becoming the beautiful dream home we’ve always wanted. We feel blessed to have found Tim and highly recommend him. We never thought we would be one of those people that love their contractor, but we do."

"Mose is very talented and easy to work with. I sent him several pictures of fireplace surrounds I liked. He built a prototype and came to the house to discuss and confirm design options before building it in his workshop (no mess at our house was a plus). Typical of an old house, the installation required custom fitting. He took his time and made sure every detail was right. It will look even better once we paint and make it the showcase of the room!"

"A.I.S. Renovations is outstanding! We hired them to do a full bathroom remodel, taking everything to the studs, removing a wall and relocating both the shower and sink. They transformed our small, drab Clintonville bathroom into a spacious, beautiful new space. From start to finish, A.I.S. delivered exceptional service and excellent craftsmanship. Aubrey was phenomenal in her design aesthetic and guidance through the initial planning and design phase of the project. She made everything easy and enjoyable, always keeping us up to date every step of the way. The budgeting and contract process by Parks was professional, honest and straightforward. Parks provided a clear budget and his estimate aligned with other bids. While comparable to other contractor bids, ultimately the value A.I.S. provided us in customer service and work quality made their bid the best by a long shot. During the design phase, Aubrey and Parks sat down with us, provided a 3D model of the new design and talked through every little detail we wished to discuss. We are highly detail oriented and meticulous customers. Parks and Aubrey only showed appreciation and patience with us, giving time to talk through specifics and options to avoid as many surprises as possible down the line. The team was upfront from the start about the potential of delays on specific components of the project due to disruptions caused by the pandemic in the construction industry (cabinet shipments, scarcity of glass for shower, etc). They never promised a precise completion date for this reason and I had great respect for their honesty and clear explanations. Once work started they were efficient in their use of time and never had delays or significant days missed. I was impressed with Jay’s coordination and project management when it came time for multiple experts to complete their work (electrician, plumber, HVAC, drywall, etc). They were timed perfectly, one after the other with almost no days missed between them. Jay was highly communicative, texting us once a day with what and who to expect next. Whenever we had a question or concern, he had an immediate answer and resolution. The A.I.S. carpentry team was outstanding. Jason and Austin completed the demo, framing, set the cabinets, installed a new window and completed the finishing work. Their carpentry work was incredible. They built all new baseboards, door frame and window frame to match the original wood work of our 100-year-old house. They even built a beautiful custom bench to cover some HVAC pipes is an adjacent room. They made everything look original to the home. They were on site most days, taking care to keep our pets safe and make our family feel safe. The project came in on budget and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the final results! A.I.S. Renovations will be our contractors for all future projects. We highly recommend A.I.S. Renovations!"

"Very smooth install. Ed was nice, personable, and timely. He installed the solar lights efficiently and correctly. And they function perfectly. Fee was very reasonable as well. He’s agreed to install similar lights next weekend at our daughter’s home located about 10 minutes away. We’re in the market for a new handyman, so would not hesitate to contact Ed again. Thank you."

FAQs for major renovation multiple room service projects in Grove City, OH

Gutting a house involves completely removing outdated elements, including drywall, insulation, and fixtures, to reveal the underlying structure. This process is not only ideal for a complete remodel but is also critical in emergency situations such as flood damage where compromised materials must be replaced immediately. Contractors follow OSHA-approved safety measures throughout the demolition to ensure a secure work environment. This method provides a fresh, safe canvas for any future renovation.

Gutting a house is a cost-efficient choice. Home renovations cost between $20,000 and $88,000 compared to the cost to build a new house of $122,500 to $411,500. The reduced cost stems from retaining the existing structural framework while updating the interior. Factors such as house size, material quality, and labor directly influence the total expenses, making a gut renovation a financially smart decision.

The cost of demoing an interior is worthwhile because gutting a house creates a completely safe and refreshed environment by removing toxic or damaged materials like asbestos, mold, and deteriorated components. Professional supervision ensures all hazards are properly managed and health and safety standards are met. This process revitalizes the home's interior and can increase its structural integrity and overall value.

Remodeling a bathroom costs between $6,640 and $17,600, with high-end remodels exceeding $30,000. The final price is directly influenced by the quality of fixtures and design features—modern tiling, advanced plumbing, and custom details all add to the definitive expense. By selecting superior materials and design elements, homeowners ensure both functionality and a remarkable aesthetic upgrade.

Kitchen renovations range from $14,500 to $41,500 when the original layout is maintained. However, changing the layout by removing load-bearing walls or upgrading to premium appliances directly escalates costs, often adding over $1,000 per modification. These precise enhancements reflect the high-quality standards and result in a transformative and efficient upgrade.

A full gut renovation typically spans between four months and a year and a half. This period accounts for the permitting process, material procurement, and the overall scale of the project. Every phase—from demolition through rebuilding—involves careful planning and execution to meet deadlines while ensuring the work adheres to safety and quality standards.
