"Rodney was a pro all the way. He knew the problem right away, explained it to me, and repaired it efficiently. As it turned out, it was a clean-out drain blockage. Rodney was even nice to my dog! I’ll call Apexx whenever I need a plumber!"

Customers say: True professional

"J.D. and Joey installed a gas line so that I could use natural gas to run my new portable generator. They also installed the natural gas conversion kit (regulator, etc) to the generator. They made sure the generator worked smoothly after the conversion kit was installed. They were highly professional, courteous and reliable. I am 75 years old and know top quality when I experience it - these guys are the BEST!"

"I had purchased ($100) a Delta 1700 manifold to replace a 50-year-old one that could not be turned off all the way and was dripping about 3 drops per second, but needed help installing it. While his estimate of $395 seemed high I wanted to have quality work that I would not have to worry about in the future, so I went with one that was recommended as A by Angie's list.
He began by cutting through the tile and pulling the old American Standard out through the front. The cuts were so large that even the face-plate, used to cover the old holes in the tile, had a hard time covering them. It was attached by molly bolts that were on the edge of the holes in the wall, one in front and one behind the pex tubing. He did reduce the price since I served as a helper, cutting openings in the wallboard of the closet to which the shower backed. The final price was $295 for two hours of work. When I offered him the discount coupon from Angie's for 5% off. He cleaned up somewhat.

"C&B Plumbing did great work. I thought we had a much bigger issue with our plumbing than we ended up having. They made sure to check all the boxes and verify that we did not have a leak, all while making sure to be as minimally invasive on our walls and plumbing as possible. They were very courteous and quick to respond. We will definitely be hiring them again for potential future issues!"

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Gulf Breeze, FL

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
