"Just before midnite on Christmas eve, we noticed a strong smell coming from the mechanical room of our basement. We have a 1/2-bath that backs up to that room, and the wastewater from that room goes into an above-the-ground holding tank with a sewage pump inside that lifts it up to the sewer line. When we got into the room, there was a trail of water coming from the bottom of the tank across the concrete floor. We contained it with towels, and wiped some of it up. We just purchased the home within the last 3 months and knew someday we'd want to improve that installation, but it was working fine up until that moment. We received a home warranty thru HMS when we bought the house, and actually found a human working the phones at that hour. They put out (we assume) several calls to and we received a call from Jon @ Ameri-Plumb right at noon on Christmas day. He inquired as to the situation and said he'd be out the next day at 9AM - which was fine since the water had started to dry up and the odor had significantly dissipated. Jon arrived right on time, and was cordial and professional on arrival. He immediately set out to try to replicate the problem so he could diagnose where the water was coming from. Since we weren't able to get the water to come out of the tank again, he concluded that the pump had backed up on something that was in the tank, that eventually worked its way through - which made sense, since it was functioning completely normal at that point. He immediately noted that he is "not fond" of the system that's installed based on the fact that it limits how much of a back-up you can experience before the water/smell enters the living/working space. Based on that impression we discussed several options on how he would approach addressing the situation both in the near-term (i.e. break/fix) and the long term, given that we do plan on re-doing that bathroom and adding a shower - remember, this is in our finished basement. Jon was reluctant to be critical of any plumbers that may have done work prior, but was straight-forward about the problems he observed and was able to explain clearly why something was wrong and how he would go about correcting it, all the while, listening and integrating in our needs and observations. The nominal fee he charged us for making the diagnosis of the original problem was, in our opinion, very fair... especially considering it was a Saturday, AND the day after Christmas."

"After interviewing 3 roofing contractors for an insurance claim, Don was clearly my choice. He had been recommended by a co-worker and I was able to preinspect his work. He worked very well with me and the insurance company to make sure all the appropriate hail and wind damage was covered. Don was on site each day with his crew. I had a number of problems with my old roof that complicated the job and he handled them all beautifully. He reflashed the chimney and did a great job. The garage roof needed significant wood repair and that was handled well. The flat roof over the porch required a rubber membrane that had to be integrated into the rest of the roof and he did a fine job. The siding repairs required significant sheathing repair and that was repaired completely. He also hooked up some bathroom fan vents that I had been neglecting in the attic for a couple years. The crew did a very nice job and was very polite. They did all the cleanup so I didn't have to worry about anything. The yard and driveway were clean when they left."

"The two reps from Crystal Clear - Mr. Kimes, and I'm sorry I didn't obtain the second gentleman's name, were very polite, patient in explaining what needed to be done and what had occurred, and were very conscious of minimizing the mess made within the house. They arrived at about 1130am. The job was finished about 430pm. They fully explained to me what to do after 24 hours to remove the chlorine smell from the water. The repairs were done 4 days ago. Everything appears to be working smoothly since their departure. Two pieces of curious activity: 1. They arrived in a large sedan with a full trunk and almost full back seat (the company truck was awaiting mechanic work by Mr Kimes at the end of the day). 2. When payment was rendered, at the request of Mr. Kimes, the owner I was asked to make the check out to him directly instead of the the company name. He provided identification without hesitation. Both were very cordial and understanding; I'd call them again."
