"Dear Rick, From the moment we met, it has been such a great experience, starting with your kindness, wonderful demeanor, and respect, as two parties involved in a transaction should have. You explained the process, the timeframe, and met all that you promised to deliver. It really was a pleasure. In this day and age, where many service providers do not value the customer, you have proven your excellence in providing customer service and more. Your willingness to help in the future with any questions or concerns is greatly appreciated. Thank you again! Sincerely, Sonji S."

"After Healthy Homes did such a great job on my rental apartment, decided to see if they could help me with the cigarette smell in my car. Was sold a small handheld fog machine and some Un-Odor product. Fogged the entire interior of my vehicle, sprayed the product on all surfaces. After washing the windows with Windex and wiping everything down with a dry towel, the car was free from odor and looked and smelled clean and fresh! Fantastic Products!!!"

"We used Specsure for our first home back in 2017 and they were great! Most recently while trying to find the forever home we used Alan...three times. He was friendly and knowledgeable. His reports also dettered us from a couple homes we would have later regretted as he saw every nook and cranny we didn't! Highly recommend this company and Alan!"

"I was very impressed with Scott replying to my web based inquiry for radon mitigation work. He was quick to respond, professional, and very polite. He promptly made an appointment to visit our home and provide an estimate. From my conversation with Scott it's apparent he has a very good background in this industry and the general construction field. He made me feel very comfortable in his ability to size up the problem and determine the best mitigation approach along with a couple of options. The estimate was quite fair and he returned in a couple of weeks to initiate the project which only took about half a day plus a return trip to test the air for radon reduction a couple of days after the project was completed. I can't say enough good things about this man's work ethic. I really appreciate his promptness with everything especially with communicating via email and phone. He never left us in the dark about any project details and was patient and thorough with all my questions. We need more good technicians like Scott."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Hamburg, NY

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
