"Came home to my washer leaking after a long week. Small river in my condo. Having left over flooring from work done last year, they were able to demo next day and install day after that once the floor was dry. Very efficient and professional. Even painted behind where the washer was and added a mold killer/preventer to the paint. Above and beyond."

"We hired Mountaineer to put in a new custom kitchen. Jeff Michael, Tracie, Jamie and the entire crew were excellent to work with. They did not rush us through the design phase, made sure we understood everything well before they started and kept us informed as the project progressed. They worked on our project every day, and if they were not going to come, Jeff told us in advance. Jeff managed the subcontractors, and everything happened as planned. Jeff was truly interested in making sure we got what we wanted and that we were happy with the results. We have been using our new kitchen for roughly 2 months with no issues - it is exactly what we wanted. This is an excellent team, and we will be hiring again when we do our master bath."

FAQs for appliance (microwave oven) installation and replacement projects in Harpers Ferry, WV

A pro can finish the job in one to three hours. Countertop models are the quickest, but built-in, drawer, and over-the-range units take longer because the installer may need to run a new outlet, modify cabinets, or add venting. Any add-ons can push the timeline closer to the three-hour mark. Hiring a licensed installer ensures the wiring is safe and the appliance operates at peak performance.

Because an over-the-range microwave doubles as a range hood, it needs proper venting. You can opt for a recirculating model that filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen, or a ducted unit that exhausts outdoors. Are you unsure which route suits your cooking style? Ask your installer for guidance before making a purchase.

Only microwaves labeled “over-the-range” have the built-in venting and lighting that’s necessary for safe, code-compliant use above a stove. Countertop models don’t have those safeguards. Before you swipe your card, have a licensed microwave installer confirm you’re choosing the right unit for the space and ensure compliance with local codes.

It’s best not to install a countertop microwave in your cabinets. Countertop models aren’t designed for use in an enclosed cabinet, and blocking those vents can trap moisture or even create a fire hazard. A built-in or drawer microwave is designed for tight spaces. Run your plans by an installer to make sure you’re buying the right style for the spot.

You don’t need an electrician if the outlet already meets the microwave’s power needs and sits in the right spot. In that case, you’re good to go ahead with the installation. If the outlet is undersized, outdated, or too far away, hire a licensed electrician to install a new one and ensure everything is code-compliant.

With routine care, most microwaves last between five and 10 years. To help them reach their maximum lifespan, wipe up spills immediately, wash the grease filter periodically, avoid using metal dishware, and close the door gently. Those simple habits reduce malfunctions and keep the appliance running smoothly for the long haul.
