"This project was for remodeling 3 bathrooms and a total kitchen remodel. The construction workers were very skilled. They were very good about listening to our suggestions along the way. I would suggest that the construction foreman be present along with the salesman when the project is estimated so that technical issues and be better clarified. For example, we removed carpet and installed DVT vinyl flooring which resulted in different leveling issues. These issues could have been resolved early on rather than brainstorming solutions with the workers at the ends. The project was done on time as scheduled even though we added some changes along the way. The electrical subcontractor should have clarified options for wiring for the kitchen better. The only negative comment I can make is that we thought the cost was a little high, however the quality was very good. The final project is beautiful."

"A million thank u's to Declan, Jackie, Vince, Alex and Holden. Job well done! My bathroom and loft look wonderful. I was very nervous about this project. Had a previous issue with someone else who ghosted me and left my vanity in the dining room. Nice huh? Luckily, Jackie called me though Angi's list, booked an appointment and the rest was magic! Attention to detail, quality and accountability describes this company. Thanks again everyone! I'll be seeing you in the spring! "

"Called back Duvall Construction as they had done such a great job for us before.  Zach came right out and gave us a bid for $5200 to remodel our guest bathroom and install a new window.  His contract was very detailed and fair. There were no extras added during the process.  He came in with his crew and removed old tile and tub. His crew was very happy and professional.  They came back the next day and started the install. Zach did the custom tile work himself and does a beautiful job.  He went above and beyond. Many hours on the phone with us helping us make decisions on tile and fixtures, and met us at the tile store to help pick out tile and offer suggestions, he didn't charge us for any of this added time.  He really goes out of his way to fulfill his contract and keep his clients happy.  My wife is pregnant and he was very careful to not have dust around the house during the work, he taped up plastic over the doorway and kept fans blowing dust outside.  He is by far the best contractor I have ever hired. We will have them back."

"We had no hot water. I called in the late afternoon. Denis was on the road, but said he would pick up a water heater and do the job in the evening. We talked over the specs and he arrived with the water heater in an hour. Completed the job in a couple hours. I was very satisfied with his willingness to talk over how best to do the job."

"I originally heard about SafeRacks through the Costco website. There was no way I could buy these at Costco and install them on my own so I went to www.saferacks.com and hired the local dealer. <br /> <br /> They had a special for two 4x8 racks delivered and installed for $599 plus tax. <br /> <br /> Jorge came out from the Simi Valley, CA location and installed the racks. He was very professional. He did an excellent job finding the studs above the drywall ceiling in my garage. <br /> <br /> The racks were installed above my garage door and look great. I'm very happy with the purchase."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Healdsburg, CA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
