The original estimate of 9k worth of unnecessary privacy fencing, that I could not afford, went down to 2.5k of sturdy chain link providing a safe play space for our rescue dog. The contractor said they are more interested in helping customers out than making large sales. The fence is very professional. It is even wired into the ground so our dog cannot dig under it. He was terrific. -Explained everything involved with the process and with the overall cost based on the dimensions of the deck, rails, steps, etc. They were punctual and kept me informed at all times of the plans (which weather can easily alter and we were able to work around.) I contacted HMR and asked that they provide me with an estimate to remove my existing chain-link fence and install a six foot vinyl privacy fence.  They showed up the same day and gave me, what I considered to be, a very reasonable price to perform the work and provide all the materials. (Much lower than the others)  So I chose HMR.

They scheduled me for the following Saturday.  They arrived at 7 a.m. as scheduled and were finished that afternoon.  I was very impressed with their knowledge and willingness to clean everything up afterwards.  If you're considering a new fence, I would definitely recommend these guys!

"Chris was one of 4 companies that provided estimates. Although his bid wasn't the lowest, we liked his attitude and professionalism. He was completely upfront about what he could do and what to expect.
Although our deck is only 4 years old, we power-washed it ourselves last year and created a mess with splinters. One of the things we needed done was splinter-reduction. Chris advised us that all wood decks have splinters but that he would do what he could to reduce them. We are satisfied with what was done.
We first got our bid on May 1, 2014. Due to the crazy weather we had in the spring and early summer of 2014, the job was delayed until July 6, 2014. This was not an issue and we completely understood that the work couldn't be done unless there was a no-rain window.
The only issue we had with the job was that the stuff under our deck (we have an under-deck roof) wasn't covered and the muck from the power washing coated everything. I would've preferred to have been warned of this so I could've covered everything. Chris covered everything for the staining portion of the work, so that wasn't an issue.

"I have only been in my home a short time and was told by my home inspector at the time of purchase that the carport posts should be replaced at some point. Being the pro-active person I am, I had a retired construction friend come by to check things out and do the work for me if it wasn't too involved. Long-story-short, he found that not only were the three posts rotted but one of the short beams and part of the long beam were also rotted. He immediately put up some braces since he was worried the whole thing might fall down, and advised that I hire someone with insurance to do the work. I checked out Angieslist and found BB Contracting and Remodeling. They have glowing reviews that made me feel comfortable about hiring them. I have limited funds and could not afford a do-over if I chose someone who did poor workmanship. I gave Tim a call and left a message. He called me back within 24hrs and sent me a bid within a couple days. After reviewing the bid, I realized we had a miscommunication about the scope of the project, contacted Tim, and he got me a revised contract within a day or two. Work started a few days later, and was complete within about a week and a half---and it rained about half that time! It would have been done even more quickly but they had to bust out the old piers and pour new 30 inch piers to meet current codes. They took care of the permits from St Louis County, cleaned up after themselves and even came out on a Sunday morning to pick up the last pile of dirt as it was supposed to rain (and did). I am a "questions" person, which I would imagine can be exasperating for contractors, but Tim was cheerful and patient with me and answered all of my questions. I was satisfied with the cost ($6,000) as there was a lot of work involved and they got it done quickly, professionally, and to the highest standard. They even put my hummingbird feeder up each day when they were finished! (That was probably out of self-preservation LOL. Those little critters can be really pesky when you mess with their feeders!) All-in-all VERY pleased with this company and highly recommend them. I have several other projects for the future and will definitely use BB Contracting and Remodeling."
