"We needed to install a new EV charger for the house we recently moved into, and Steven was a total pro. He worked to understand the nuances of the house to find efficient and durable solutions in the installation of the unit. Friendly and approachable throughout the process, he took the time to talk through any considerations that arose. We've been very happy with the charger. When the next electrical need comes up for us, Least Resistance will be at the top of our list!"

"Antonio responded quickly, accurate assesment, very good price. The work was very well done. The office was also excellent to work with. On a rating system of 1 to 10, my rating is an 11. I will not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. "

"DO NOT JOIN THE JSP Home Care Club! In 2024 they began billing me twice every month for my membership in the Home Care Club; this continued into 2025. When I realized this a few months later, I contacted them and spoke to Robin who promised to refund the money--they owed me over $300--he did not refund all of it. Through several back and forths (this has been going on since August 2025) I have gotten a little more back but not the entire amount. Had to get the NYS Division of Consumer Affairs involved. My advocate managed to get a few more bucks out of them. I disputed the charges with my bank; JSP forked over a bit more, but still not all of it.They owe me $135. They do not respond in a timely fashion, if at all. They have a bot taking calls, so speaking with an actual human being is virtually impossible. I did receive one unsigned email from someone telling me to "check my records". I have informed them that I will be taking them to court. "

Customers say: Quick response

"August 26 called JSP out to check on my xtrol pressure water tank because it was making a clicking noise that was coming from the power switch. Came out same day said the bladder ruptured would need a new tank. I agreed because the tank was 12 years old. Installed was a flex lite tank which he said was better. I'm a senior and a widow took his word for it. I paid $2172.66. It was not itemized. He gave me a $50 discount. He told me I would get water bursts for a while coming from faucets. Well he was right, however I lost pressure in my kitchen and bathroom faucets and the toilet was rumbling when filling and flushed. I called them out to check. He did not go under the sinks to clear the lines, instead he said it must be your faucets. He quoted me a price of $1303.48 for kitchen faucet if they picked it out fully installed or $756 if I bought the faucet myself. 3 strikes your out. Didnt fix problem. Found out I was over charged for flex tank $1200 instead."

"I'm considering a lawsuit for damages. ALL THE ONE-STAR REVIEWS ARE FOR A REASON. Incompetent liars. We have lived WITHOUT WATER TO OUR TWO MAIN BATHROOMS FOR NEARLY A WEEK because of this company, who sent two sets of technicians out within hours of each other (unknown to the dispatch/office) and both successively made a small faucet leak exponentially worse. Our home has high-end hardware without a shutoff valve on the sink, so we had to turn off the main water to stop to the bathrooms to stop the leak, which went from a slow drip BEFORE T WEBBER to a gush after they came. Of course, the crew was going to "be right back" with the right stem to fix it. That was Monday/Tuesday. It's now Saturday. The tech took a big deposit and GHOSTED. I've called multiple times. The customer service and dispatch are so ill-trained and inhuman....the level of disruption to our lives has been hard to quantify. "

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Highland, NY

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
