"I'm happy with the installation of radon equipment in my basement. Mike, the owner, provided a fair quote and was professional when working with me. Jay, the installer, was patient and courteous when answering my questions. He is very knowledgeable. I received the radon test performed after the installation. The results were better than I expected. I would encourage anyone needing radon mitigation to talk to Radon Environmental Inc. I'm glad I did."

"When I bought my home, I had a radon test performed. The test came back indicating that there was radon present at a level that mitigation was highly recommended. He performed the work quickly, and answered all of my questions while he was performing the work. He saved me a few dollars from his original quote because he recognized that the vapor barrier that was already down in my crawlspace was sufficient enough for the work he was doing and did not need to be replaced. He subsequently performed a follow-up radon test to verify that the work he performed had reduced the radon to safe levels."

"Rob showed up on time, started his inspection on the exterior of the house and then moved into the interior. How took many pictures and noted to us what he was looking at and what was wrong with parts of the house. He concluded his inspection, gave a brief overview of the outcome and what to expect. Also provided a handy, and large amount of materials on home maintenance for the future.  <br />"

"I received my radon results in a timely manner. I did not hire them specifically, (so, I cannot say I would hire them again) the local company contracted them for this service. The home inspector I hired, handled this service for me and included the results in his report."

"My husband and I were doing an interior remodel of a wood stove surround and found an active leak behind our tear down that was leaking in under the insulation. Our first and only thought was that we had a roof leak on a 3 year old roof (we have only owned the house 11 months). Then we noticed water damage in a closet as well.. We called Loy-Quinn and Mr. Quinn came out to take a look & give us a FREE estimate. He came out and told us there is NOTHING wrong with our roof. Our chimney needs tuck pointed and that is where the water is coming from. He said we could, for added security around our chimney after we have it repaired, install a chimney cricket and that they would replace the flashing around the chimney at the same time and it would help ward off possible future problems but we didn't HAVE to do it. We could have been thousands deep into this if this company were not honest. We will be having Loy-Quinn install the cricket after we fix our chimney issue. We couldn't have asked for a better experience"

"Really well. Good communication and punctuality; I live out in the sticks, and most services are late getting here. Ron was 5 min early by my watch, and to me, that's on time. <br /> As a scientist by trade, I could tell that Ron has scientist tendencies: very precise and proper. He answered all of my questions and was friendly about it to boot. <br /> My relocation company hired him as I'm trying to sell my place, so that's a vote from those folks. I actually called him this week to get advice on inspection items, just as a second opinion. <br /> Top shelf individual, also a military vet and reservist. He is first on my list for any inspections if I move back in Indiana; I'm pretty sure nothing would get past him. <br /> <br />"

"JD inspected our new home, which is nearly 40 years old. He took the owner through the home, including the attic and crawl space, reviewing what was expected with an older home and what could need addressed in a of couple years. He also covered potential steps that could be expected when addressing those areas in a straightforward and understandable way."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Frankfort, IN

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
