"Ben was very responsive, even at odd hours and always took my calls to answer any questions I had. He did a very thorough inspection at a great price and helped me find a pest inspector as well. I would highly recommend him. He took extra care in areas I was concerned about and made recommendations on what repairs could be critical."

"Jimmie was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Of the estimates and recommendations I received for mold remediation in my crawlspace, I thought Jimmie's approach seemed the most logical and thorough. Pricing was fair, and the service was prompt with regular communication from him and his team about progress and next steps. He even performed an extra preventative measure that wasn't included in the estimate. I highly recommend this company."

"Erik (Iron Homes Inspection) performed a thorough home inspection on our new home in November 2017. He answer questions patiently and clearly, and was very detailed and meticulous in his report. He was good natured and did not rush through his job. He gave the impression that he enjoys his work and enjoys talking with the people he helps. He followed up quickly and helped us as we asked about requesting services and/or contributions from the sellers. Later, when I had specific questions two months after the inspection, he spoke with me over email and clearly remembered specifics about the property. He then agreed to stop by the house to check out concerns in the crawlspace and answer questions over the phone once again. This helped my wife and I make smart decisions about future work on the home. Erik did not over charge, did not charge for the follow up visit, and we found the services to be of GREAT value. Thanks and would enthusiastically recommend!"

"Exceptional customer service.  Mr Allen arrived a few minutes early with everything needed to accomplish his job.  He was very professional and knowledgeable.  Based on Mr Allen's findings (termite and water damage, and multiple unprofessional repairs under the house), I decided not to purchase the property; saving myself tens of thousands of dollars to correct the problems.  I highly recommend Mr Allen and fully intend to use his services in the future. <br />"

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"Marty showed up and did an in depth inspection of the entire house starting in the kitchen checking everything you could possibly think of. After that we went to the exterior house and explained to me while I was following him around his findings and answering any questions I had on the house. We then did the inside of the house completely testing the heating and AC units. Every square inch of the house was inspected and being the owners of the house did not take care of anything so the report was really long and detailed. We are going to take marty's report back to the sellers and either get them to fix all issues or get money off the purchase price to make up for the difference to fix the problems. I recommend Marty to anyone trying to buy a house to make sure they know what they are getting into with a home. <br />"

"I first came into contact with Ark when I called another company and they were too busy to come out.  That company referred me to Ark and I have used them 2-3 times since.  Even though I'm generally unable to be home, Ark came out and did a fine job.  They were prompt, professional, and did great work each time I've needed their services. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Holly Springs, NC

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
