"I hired this company to renovate a garage that was converted into a family room approx 60 years ago by my parents. The space included a shower, toilet, in small area. After inheriting the house, I hired this company to update the bathroom, which was the original construction 1955, only a cement finish. Additionally, he transformed the family room into a bedroom for myself and added a sink vanity and mirror, installed new doors, and laid tile in the vanity area, bthrm, & shower stall. Before & after pictures will be posted, noting that the before pictures depict the space when it was rented by someone else. Company owner Raul, demonstrated exceptional expertise and provided valuable feedback throughout the project. "Our tile contractor gave him our name to give us an estimate on the work we wanted done on renovating both our bathrooms floor to ceiling. He made an appointment with us that he confirmed, kept & arrived on time. At that time I had a plan to switch the master shower with the toilet to give us a larger shower in the corner. Guy suggested another way to make our shower bigger, more user friendly & not move doors & make more work. His contract stated that it would take 35 work days or nearly 6 weeks to complete all the work. It also specified when we would make payments & how much work would be done prior to payments. We understood there may be a couple of things not covered in the contract because they could not see under the tub or in the walls behind tile. We approved the plan & he came back a week later with a comprehensive computer generated estimate that was twice the budget we had hoped to stay within. We had previously had another bid that was not in writing, not specific & half the price. We agreed to the bid of Hernandez Construction because it covered everything in each bath, each closet, each door, and each wall. The bid was totally specific as to who was responsible for purchasing every building supply & fixture we wanted. We were purchasing some of our items through Direct Buy so we were responsible for those & it was noted on the contract. We signed the contract because it was so thorough & we felt like he was completely honest & above board with every issue. We were called prior to work starting & told what to remove from what area & how to make the house more accessible by taking down pictures, shelves & accent pieces in the hall so they didn't get knocked down during demolition or work on the rooms. On Sept. 13, 2010 the work was started at 8:00 am. Guy's father, Guy Senior & Gabriel showed up to tear out the entire bathrooms. They covered our wood floor with paper, our carpet with plastic & put up plastic sheeting walls to confine as much dust & mess as possible. Every day they showed up on time, worked all morning, took their lunch outside sitting on the concrete steps. I finally couldn't stand the thought of them working so hard & not being comfortable during lunch that I gave them each a folding patio chair to sit in during lunch. Every evening when they left my house was as neat as it could possibly get with all the work going on & all our things scattered over the house. They also put their working materials, folding chairs & tools either in their trailer or our garage. They left my yard clean & picked up any mess they had made. We needed a toilet in our master for a few days so they worked mostly on the hall bath. They were here every day for at least 3 weeks before the tile contractor was contacted to take measurements for tile & granite countertop installation. Both these men & the younger Guy were very respectful, listened to any concern I had, never swore, never raised their voices to each other, never spoke Spanish in front of us & just listened to a soft radio & laughed at times. We felt they were totally trustworthy. We left our home many times during this renovation (sometimes for days at a time) & were never concerned about our home or possessions. We have two very nosey, playful dogs that wanted to play with the workers. We had to put them out on the patio & lock their dog door so they wouldn't be in the way. When we were not at home the guys left our house locked, alarm set, & dogs in with their door open. They were very easy to work with. When I had a question about an electrical plug fixture that we had agreed to which wasn't in one day, Senior called Junior & within minutes we had a fixture in the exact spot where I had wanted it. Turns out it was misstated in the contract to put a fixture at each sink instead of 2 in each bathroom. Sinch our master only had one sink it was confusing for Senior. I was in the bathroom & bedroom many times observing what was going on & they patiently explained what they were doing & why. We now have two beautiful bathrooms that came out better than we had expected thanks to this crew. Any time I had a question that the guys on scene couldn't answer they called the owner Guy Junior & got an answer for me. This renovation came in 4 days over the budgeted time because the tile contractor had a problem with personnel & held it all up for more than a week. It also came in only $250. over budget because we had to purchase a couple items that were not seen until the sheetrock, tubs & tile were removed. We were approaced on this cost & agreed to it before it was undertaken. If I could afford it I would have this crew here every day to update the rest of my home. When we get the money saved to update our kitchen we will definitely use them again. Believe me thay are trustworthy, kind, caring, wonderful to have around & work with & a joy to have in your home. "The walls were down to the studs so the plumbers could access the pipes to convert them from a tub/shower set-up to a shower only set-up. This included installing a new valve for the shower. They did this part of the job on June 18. It took an afternoon and the job was complete when they left the premises that day. We paid them by check, $475. Once the shower pan, drain, and shower walls were installed the plumbers returned on August 14 to connect the drain and install the outside wall shower fixture and faucet. It took 3/4's of the day because they ran into an unforseen problem with our shut-off valve to the house. It failed to work properly and they ended up having to replace it. That was an additional cost which we agreed to pay ($300). The end of the day came, and the plumber took me into the shower stall to explain that the large rain-style showerhead is dripping, but those type of fixtures do that for a bit after the shower is turned off. We paid them $525 for the fixture and faucet install. Over the next 90 minutes I checked on the dripping fixture, and it had not stopped. It was more than a small drip. It was dripping a lot. I reached out to the plumber and he said the problem was likely the fixture needed replacing. The fixture was brand new out of the box. I did some research on YouTube about dripping shower fixtures and found that it is likely an issue with the valve. It could be damaged, faulty, or dirty. When I told the plumber this he disagreed. The next week he sent one of his guys back to look it it, and he said the same thing: The fixture needs replacing. You need to send it back and get a different type of unit. After this I went online again and found another opinion that it is the valve. So I sent the plumber a video of the unit dripping from the connection where I removed the hose shower head. When he saw this he agreed that it was the valve. However, he did not offer his service to come back to check the valve and provided a solution. This lead me to contact another plumber and this plumber concurred that it was a valve issue, the valve cartridge. He sent his guy over on August 25th, and he removed the cartridge and ordered a replacement one, and is going to come back on August 28th to install it for us. This is estimated to cost us $650, $400 labor and $200 for the cartridge. My gripe with the plumber I hired from Angie is that he left us with a drippy shower and did not care enough to come back and correct it. He made excuses that he was so busy and working out of the area. We did not pay a professional to leave us with a drippy shower unit. It is our opinion that the job was not completed satisfactorily. We kept having to turn our water to the house on and off because the dripping never stopped. The shower unit was turned off and it just kept dripping. The total we paid this company was $1300. $475 for the converted piping, $300 for the new house shut-off valve and $525 for the fixture installation. In addition, I asked the plumber multiple times to provide a receipt for the jobs they did, and have received no paperwork from them. This is most unprofessional. There should be a document with the charges and what they were for, and confirmation of payment."

He cut, painted & installed 2 exterior hinged utility/storage doors w/ locks, fixed a fallen side gate, and also replaced a non-working microwave-over stove hood appliance w/ a standard vented hood, which was exactly what I needed & wanted. He said he would come right over and install it when I got it in, that he needed to pay his guys for the work that has already been done.
