"They installed two basement egress windows.  They recognized a problem in advance that other estimates failed to recognize -- that the metal header above the existing windows limited the width of the windows we could install at a reasonable cost.  Their price was competitive.  They were prompt and professional, and did the job for the bid amount. <br />"

"Eugene is an absolute professional. He gave a very fair price, showed up on time each day, and did excellent work remodeling two bathrooms. It was obvious that he didn't take shortcuts or do any subpar work. He was fair and honest. I will hire Eugene for every single project going forward. He stands out as a contractor because he is reliable and consistently does excellent work. Wish this website would let me add attachments so you can see how amazing my bathroom looks."

"Smoothly. Pedro, the contractor was very professional, always showed up on time, knew what he was doing, and everything was done well and with the absolute minimum impact on the rest of the house. Every effort was made to keep the work area clean and blocked off. He made every effort to accommodate our time schedule and work around changes we had to make. We will definitely use PEA again for any work that comes up."

"Very well. We made a great team. Ricky is one hard working guy. He is full of energy even as the day gets older, he's still full steam ahead guy. Tons of experience on many aspects of remodeling and home repair. He has the knowledge. In my case, he has the expertise necessary to work on roofing issues, and knows what's right and wrong and best approaches. I learned a lot"

"Slab was poured mid-May, then we had a two week rain delay. Once construction was started, it went FAST. The whole job (not including the slab or rain delay) took two weeks. Loren does most of the work himself, and when he needs help his brother joins the party. The work was done efficiently, all materials were on-hand when he started, and we are thoroughly pleased. He cleaned up after; the only proof of his time with us is the patio! <br /> <br /> He answers all questions, adjusts as needed when a change is suggested/requested, and works with you to find ways to reduce costs. I have done all of the painting, which saved us some money. <br /> <br /> I would not hesitate to hire him again, and highly recommend him."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Homedale, ID

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
