"They did a good job from the estimate on to the poured asphalt. I have prior experience with asphalt crews and these guys were the best."

"They did asphalt patch work and sealing on my driveway, but could seal the new patches at the time. They were supposed to come back in 30 days to seal the patches, but it's been about a year and I still haven't been able to persuade them to come and finish the job. And yes, I have already paid in full. The work they did so far is fine, but I'm disappointed they have not been more prompt to finish the job."

"Jim Calloway did an absolutely outstanding job paving my driveway. We live quite a ways up a mountain, so the driveway was quite steep and quite long. Jim did a beautiful job grading and preparing the surface. The driveway came out beautifully and we've already received numerous compliments on it: both looks and drive-ability. It really is outstanding work, both aesthetically and structurally. In addition, Mr. Calloway solved some fairly serious erosion issues we were having. I can't recommend this man enough. Note that he's quite popular, because his work is well-known and respected, so he is busy. Please don't pay attention to the reviews of folks that didn't contract with him. He's busy but once we engaged with him (very competitive bid), he was responsive, very helpful in solving our issues, and did a lovely job. He did the work for exactly what we agreed upon, did it exactly when he said he would, and exceeded my expectations in every way. This man has decades of experience and takes great pride in his work, and it shows!"

"I first contacted Chris last summer for a quote. Chis is very responsive and got back to me right away and came out to give me a quote.   I scheduled the work to be done this spring.  Chris kept in touch in the meantime and did the work in early April.  Chris and the men that work for him are so fantastic.  They explained with they were doing, they did very high quality work and were very professional.  The end result is gorgeous and I'm extremely happy.  I highly recommend Cane Creek concrete! <br />"

"I called Chad Roberts on the recommendation of a mutual friend who is actually a building inspector.  I was lookinf for someone who could do the final grading and drainage on our new home lot.  The grading company used in the beginning, for foundation and initial grading of the site, however professional, went way, way over budget (estimated $23K, billed $38K).  <br /> I wanted to work with someone else. <br /> My circumstances were unique in that I was basically an owner/builder at the point I hired Chad.  I was plugging along at a snail's pace on the build doing most of it myself. I asked him for an estimate and he gave me one, though he was quite busy working on a large subdivision at the time. He told me he would have to work me in the schedule. <br /> Chad gave me a fixed price an honored it to the penny. <br /> I can't comment on punctuality, etc. since I didn't ask for it to be done on a specific day. I gave him a lot of flexibility since my schedule was so wide open. He also gave me a very competitive price compared to others. I can say that when a moment opened in his schedule, he came the same day he stated. <br /> We're very happy with the work he did. He basically finished everything by himself in 2 days. He's a super nice guy.   <br /> Chad is very busy with projects, so be clear with him about your time frame and he'll let you know if he can work you in. <br /> On a side note, I think Chad does more than just grading.  He also does roofing, building and remodeling.  I think his family has been in these trades for a long time. We may use him to roof our income property when the time comes to replace it."

"We decided to remodel and upgrade our vacation home kitchen and family room, but with the mess and turmoil we had just gone through with remodeling our kitchen and bath at our home, we were not looking forward to that again, so we contacted John at Sandy Run Construction and arranged for him to go to the other sight and take care of the job so we were not living in the mess. The job consisted of taking a wall out and re-arranging the kitchen with a new tile floor throughout, new cabinets installed, granite counters with bar, cut out ceiling with fan and moldings, finished walls and painting to complete. He did a really great job and we couldn't be happier with the finished product and workmanship. We recommend Sandy Run Construction for all your construction needs."

"Great company to work with! They were so easy to work with and were very time efficient and prompt to get the job done. They paved and striped our parking lot and we have had numerous comments in just a month about how wonderful it looks! I would highly recommend this company! Jessica, the woman in the office that sets everything up, is super nice and helpful! Everyone we came in contact with went above and beyond to help us by coming out for a second look to help explain things and answer questions! So thankful to have done business with them and look forward to it again in the future!"

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Horse Shoe, NC

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
