"Roots from a large tree had damaged a brick wall, a concrete pad, and the corner of a hangar. Pete surveyed the project and provided counsel on how to proceed. We chose to reconfigure the wall and save the tree. Pete's part of the project was to replace the brick wall. The wall is beautiful - better and stronger than the original. Pete is a consummate craftsman with a driving work ethic. We are happy to know him."

"Jim and Laura are a fantastic team that works collaboratively to help every project succeed. Jim describes Laura as his "Best foot Forward" and this humility plus devotion to each other is exemplified in their quality and consistent work. They communicated constantly through the process, helped us with a time sensitive project and finished a huge job in just two days. JP concrete provided a very competitive quote that made the decision to hire this awesome team a no brainer. We highly recommend JP concrete for all your staining needs!"

"We are a repeat customer of Blaine, because we were so satisfied the first time! They originally switched out our kitchen countertops and then we hired them back to convert an old jacuzzi tub into a walk in shower along with updating the countertops in the master bathroom and powder room. They have once again exceeded our expectations. They are always respectful and professional while in our home. We did shop around for multiple quotes on the bathroom remodel but ultimately ended up going with Blaine because we were confident in their quality of work. I am positive we will use them again and I absolutely recommend them!"

"They did a great job; they were thorough in their inspection, they not only fixed all the damaged wood, they pointed out the source of the water damage (clogged field drainage lines) and fixed that too (at no charge). They mainly due stucco, but in my case, they did an outstanding job with my stone veneers. This is a great company, Fred is very straight forward and easy to work with; I highly recommend"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Hortense, GA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
