"Outstanding service. I contacted Paul to get an estimate to scrape our ceilings (had outdated popcorn), and then we had to go out of town unexpectedly. I had emailed him photos of the rooms and my measurements of square footage. I called him on our way back, on a Tuesday, to confirm the job and gave him a $100 deposit over the phone. On Wednesday his subcontractor, Ruben, called me and set up for Thursday, and by that evening they were done, all popcorn gone and everything cleaned up. I emailed him a photo of a check for the balance and that was it. The simplest process of any home repair we have ever had done. "

Customers say: True professional

"Jesse was wonderful. He reached out the same day I submitted a request and was able to schedule within the same week. I was feeling very anxious about my asbestos situation that required air filtrating my entire house. He took the time to listen to me and was able to assure me that it would be ok. He seemed very experienced and knowledgeable. His pricing was reasonable and his team was thorough and friendly. I’m beyond grateful for Jesse. "

MI&T - Mold Inspection & Testing Houston

Emergency services offered

We are usually called into a home or business for one or more of the following reasons:\n\nRecent Water Damage\nVisible Growth\nStrange Smell\nHealth Complications\nLooking For Peace of Mind\nReal Estate Transaction\n\nWe help people in all of the above situations find out not only if they have a problem, but also where the source is. What most restoration companies don’t want you to know is that not all mold is dangerous. Truth of the matter is mold is all around us and every indoor environment has acceptable levels. Any inspection that is done without testing is simply a guess at what is going on with your indoor air quality. Our service is so valuable because our air and surface samples offer hard evidence about what is going on in your home or business.\n\nAny respectable mold remediation company who is suggesting a home or business needs professional intervention should support the idea of a third party company like MI&T coming in to do an inspection and mold testing. Even when it is known that a problem is present, customers still benefit from involving us in the process. Our samples collection lets you know exactly what is going on gives a clear picture of PRECISELY what needs work. Determining how far a problem has spread is crucial in determining the size of a work area. If we can contain the work area, you can be sure you’ll save on your restoration cost.

"I thought that I would be paying about the price for their duct cleaning "special," which was $199 but ended up with a bill of $719.80. They added on extra charges for cleaning the return air duct, main unit, coil wash, and especially the fog machine, which took 5 minutes and ran $139. When I objected to this item initially, Nick told me that it was very important, I suspect because it generated the most profit. I admittedly authorized the work so that blame is on me. The ducts had never been cleaned in 49 years, which is why I went ahead with the whole package. The technicians worked hard and fast but allowed spray paint to fall on the the kitchen appliances. I only wish to warn future customers not to expect to get away for $199."

FAQs for asbestos abatement projects in Houston, TX

Asbestos is a group of six naturally occurring mineral fibers once commonly used in building materials because of their resistance to heat, electricity, and corrosion. However, in 1975, research confirmed that these fibers cause mesothelioma and other cancers, leading to strict usage laws. If your home contains asbestos, removing it can prevent long-term health effects. You'll often find asbestos in the flooring, ceilings, pipes, and roofing of homes built before the 1990s. Common asbestos-containing materials include vermiculite insulation, vinyl flooring, millboard, and corrugated roofing. If you suspect you have asbestos or any of these materials in your home, it's important to hire a reputable abatement company to perform testing.

Currently, there is no federal licensing mandate for asbestos removal contractors. However, certain cities and states require certification and specialized training. For example, in some areas, contractors handling asbestos must receive an Asbestos Handler Certification. Be sure to check your local laws to ensure any contractor you hire meets the necessary requirements.

Homes constructed before the 1990s can conceal asbestos within building materials, and testing provides a definitive answer. You should have your home tested by a certified asbestos inspection service. This professional evaluation identifies hazardous materials and determines whether removal or encapsulation is necessary. Testing safeguards your family’s health and supports smart budgeting for remediation.

Federal law does not require you to disclose the presence of asbestos when selling your home. However, certain states and local jurisdictions impose disclosure regulations that you must follow. Testing and professional remediation confirm that hazardous materials are properly managed. This proactive approach not only meets legal requirements but also protects your property’s value and buyer health.

Asbestos removal affects a home’s resale value because hazardous materials can deter potential buyers. Having toxic substances present lowers buyer confidence and may reduce the property’s value by 1% to 15% if not addressed. Professional remediation ensures safety standards are met and preserves marketability, protecting your long-term investment.

Grants exist at both federal and state levels to support asbestos testing and removal projects. Local housing programs may also offer financial assistance when asbestos is discovered during home repairs. Meeting certification and testing standards is required to secure these funds, which help to manage overall project costs while ensuring safe remediation.
