"Southwest Poolscapes just completed a pool/spa remodel for us, in which the services included were to repair a leak in spa, resurfaced with mini pebble tec stone (included trim tile), new LED lights and complete pool/spa automation. We selected Southwest Poolscapes based off the reviews as well as being a local business owner/from Pecan Grove area. Erik was very thorough in explaining the entire process to us prior to starting the process. Once the process started, it took about three weeks to complete, due to the weather not cooperating (rain, rain and more rain). The project began with a demo of the existing plaster. Etched out all the surface scratches and then electricians ran all new wiring for new LEDs. We actually ran into a couple issues with the existing construction of the pool in which we had to correct prior to moving forward (joys of having an older pool). The crews worked hard and were respectful of our property and surroundings. We originally weren’t happy with the tile job around the edge of the pool and discussed our concerns with Erik. Very next day, the crew tore all the tile out and started over. Erik and his crew went above and beyond to ensure the job was done correctly and that we were happy with the end result. All in all, the results of our pool remodel turned out beautiful and we want to thank Southwest Poolscapes for doing a wonderful job! Looks like a totally different pool. Southwest Poolscapes also did all of our pool automation for us prior to the remodel job with the pool/hot tub, one of the best decisions we made and are very happy with the outcome. All in all, we had a great experience and we would hire them again for any additional work in the future. ? [*** Link removed ***]"

"Paid $75 Deductible through American Homeshield to sub contract Me.Rooter Plumbing Scam: Martin, with Mr. Rooter arrived & used a camera underneath the home to try & diagnose the leak issue in the laundry room. He didn't do anything else to figure out the cause of the leak. His repair quote was for $8,500 & when he was told that seemed high for the repair, he said the best he could do it for was $6,500. He immediately referred a water damage company to access the damage at no charge. That company said water damage was $2,200. We called another reputable plumber to get a second opinion & they immediately identified a cracked pipe in the P Trap and repaired all for $201. They also stated there was no major water damage. MR. Rooter conducted unethical business practices & provided fraudulent information"

ECW is a "Design to Finish" company. Our goal is for the customer to make one call and get their needs taken care of. My first company (in the mid 90's) was painting new residential home construction. I was building homes when the economy turned down in 2008, then I started ECW. We do alot of remodeling & hand man work. We have licensed Electricians, Plumbers & HVAC on hand to work, as well as Artists for Faux Finishes & Murals.

"THE NIGHTMARE WITH MY FENCE, GATES & LOCKS CONTINUES LONG REVIEW IMPORTANT TO READ ! *COMPLETE CHAOS AND DISORDERED WORK WITH NO SCHEDULE & NO COOPERATION WITH HOMEOWNER CONTRACTORS (CHRIS/ALAN MALLARD FROM NEW CANEY FENCE COMPANY) After charging me almost $11,000 to build my fence, had poor to no communication regarding appointment times. They would stop by the house to begin or complete phases of the project with no prior arrangements, not knowing if I was home or not. If they ran behind schedule at a job at another property they never called to say they were running late. They committed to appointment times I requested & did not keep their word. They were "no call no shows." Who conducts business like this? No one.!! *POOR WORKMANSHIP & NOT LISTENING TO DIRECTIONS & REQUESTS Fence was built with a large gap between the ground and the bottom of the fence allowing the two dogs to get loose. The whole point of the project was to have a fenced in yard for two dogs. I told this to them from the beginning but they did not listen or care. To fix the issue, I had great additional expense to purchase gravel, concrete, and bricks to fill in the gap under the fence in order to secure the dogs. *EXTREME RUDENESS Contractors & workers of NEW CANEY FENCE COMPANY spoke disrespectfully to me when I was the one hiring them and paying them for the work. They acted as if they knew better than me about what I wanted & needed done. They were arrogant, rude, and demeaning. *BROKEN ITEMS INSTALLED The two expensive gate locks that was charged to me $350 each, has been a disaster due to the fact that the locks were not done properly in the first place. They were installed broken from day one. The codes did not work consistently. The locks were affected by hot and humid weather and did not work the way they were supposed to work: at all times in all weather. The locks did not fully latch due to being incorrectly installed. After two months of constant reminders, emails as well as me going to the company, Chris Mallard from New Caney Fence Company finally came out to fix the locks & the fence gates. I mentioned to him what exactly I thought would be good & solid so that he didn't have to come out again due to the constant reoccurrence of the locks & the gates not working properly, he refused and said I'm asking for too much & if I say anything more, that he would leave without doing anything at all. He completed the work and left Beware and do not trust your loved ones, pets, and valuable property to the fate of these completely incompetent contractors and workers. *RUDEST RECEPTIONISTS (KRYSTLE O'MALLEY & KAITLIN DENNIS) I HAVE EVER HAD THE EXTREME DISPLEASURE TO DEAL WITH IN OVER 50 YEARS OF DOING BUSINESS WITH ANY COMPANY It's funny how until New Caney Fence Company got the fence job from me, the receptionist/Office Manager (KRYSTLE O'MALLEY) went above & beyond to be polite & helpful until I signed on the dotted lines. When I noticed problems & brought them to (KRYSTLE O'MALLEY) notice, she showed a side of her that was shocking!! This person is totally toxic. She is verbally abusive, overbearing, mean, snarky, & sarcastic. In person, she has physically threatening body language designed to intimidate others.(ME) The receptionist (OFFICE MANAGER) is the person who gives potential clients their first impression of the business. If you want a toxic environment of snarky, argumentative, incompetent, unaccountable, excuse-making people with whom to do business you are at the right place & this is what she KRYSTLE O'MALLEY correctly portrays. The fence gate still doesn't lock up till date!I I keep getting excuses when I call, email or go to the company. I have gone above & beyond with my patience with Chris/Alan Mallard from New Caney Fence Company in every way possible."

FAQs for swimming pool or accessories repair or service projects in Houston, TX

A well-maintained, correctly sized pump lasts eight to 12 years. Help it reach the upper end of that range by cleaning the strainer basket, monitoring for unusual sounds, and verifying that the pump’s flow rate matches the filter's specifications. Address leaks or pressure dips quickly—minor fixes now cost far less than a premature replacement later.

Listen for grinding or screeching, watch for breaker trips, and keep an eye on sudden spikes in your electric bill—any one of these signals the pump needs attention. If repairs continue to accumulate or the unit is older than eight years, replacement often makes more financial sense. Contact a qualified pool repair professional immediately to diagnose the issue and prevent further damage to the filter or plumbing.

It’s best to keep your pool pump on while swimming. Keeping the pump on while you swim allows the filter and skimmers to catch debris in real-time, maintaining water features flowing. It’s not mandatory, but weaving swim time into your regular eight-to-12-hour schedule helps maintain crystal-clear water and consistent chemical levels without extra effort.

Start by shutting off the power at the breaker and verifying with a voltage meter. Close the water valves, bleed pressure, and unbolt the old pump. Wire the new unit according to the manufacturer's diagram, glue in the PVC unions, prime the housing, and tighten everything securely. Open the valves, flip the breaker, and watch for steady water flow and quiet operation. If any step feels beyond your expertise, consider hiring a licensed electrician or pool technician.
