"Overall it was excellent. They were very careful about making sure that we selected the right combination of products for a pool meant for a good lifestyle. They took into consideration that we had small children. We had a pool forty years ago and had steps that were narrow. So they put in a trim tile so that the steps could be identified easily. They were able to start my job in about a week after we made our decision of the renovation. The owner was actually a woman. They completed the renovation within four days. I thought that was pretty good. She came by everyday to check on the work. I thought the price was reasonable. The materials they used were very good. I would absolutely use their services again in the future."

"Mark, the owner of the company, arrived when he promised and completed an installation of a new pool pump/motor for our above-ground pool. He also completed some additional work on the pool connections after traveling to secure additional parts. Mark only charged us for the parts; no additional labor. In addition to completing the work in a professional manner, Mark returned to our home the next day to verify that everything was running smoothly, make any adjustments necessary, and offered some pointers on pool maintenance. B&M is now our new pool service company."

"service provider sent by American Home Shield was excellent. The only issue I have with home warranty services is that they do not send their repair companies out on the week-end, even in an emergency. The customer service personnel is less than enthusiastic or helpful."

"I initially purchased from Angie's List a $59 Electrical Service Call and Whole-House Electrical Inspection, including labor on March 27, 2014.  When he came for the inspection, I showed him what I wanted fixed.  Upon looking over the original inspection description, I am not aware that he inspected things like arc-fault breakers, insulation, grounding system, smoke alarms which were listed.
He took down my ceiling fan.  Since I did not have a ceiling fan box, James needed to come back to install that as well.  I would have preferred  paying for the job instead of by the hour as it took two visits to install the fan properly.  In retrospect, it would have been better, and less expensive for me, if he insisted I wait for the box before installing the fan.  Since the fan I already had up had no box and was better balanced, it worked fine that way, so I didn't understand why I needed the box.  James explained after he installed the new fan that the new fan was smaller and had only three blades which is why it rocked when operating.
I had asked if he could dust the fixtures around the living room vaulted ceiling bulbs while he was up there, while replacing the old bulbs with LED bulbs.  He told me he preferred I clean the fixtures and that he would hand me the fixtures, but the first fixture had been painted around, and stuck to the ceiling.  It took him a great deal of time to replace that fixture.  He dusted the other two fixtures as I had wanted and simply inserted the bulbs.  Much faster that way.
He was supposed to fix a microwave light that wasn't working.  It never happened.  The dining room cabinet lights were hot and I needed an alternative.  He could not find a suitable alternative.
I had a halogen light burn out in my dining room cabinet after he removed it by hand. He had taken it out to determine it's wattage. Later he told me halogen bulbs should not be handled.  He took the bulb on April 16th, but was too busy to come back and replace it within a reasonable time.  That bulb was in my middle cabinet, so I couldn't enjoy using those lights, almost a month, while it was out.  I had to ask him twice to send me the bulb numbers for that bulb, and three bulbs he was to replace from my loft.  He finally responded on May 10th.  We agreed it would be cheaper for me to install the bulbs myself instead of paying for a another house call.
James was certainly polite and did a final good installation job on the fan and the phone jack, but I found working with him
 frustrating.

"In October 2013, Robert sent me an email stating my service had been scheduled for 11/06/13 and he wanted me to confirm the date. I was a bit unsettled at the thought that if I had not read this email when I did and responded immediately, someone would have shown up at my house unannounced to perform a job I had not discussed with them. I called immediately and explained I was not ready and had stated that when I purchased the deal. Robert said he understood and would wait to hear from me. In February, I contacted Robert to explain that due to the extreme winter we had, my plans for the work had been postponed and that I would be in touch. Robert assured me my deal would not expire and to call him when I was ready. In recent months, I revisited the reviews for Rovase and became unsettled again at the poor service and communication reviews this company had received from other customers after I purchased the deal. I especially did not like the tone of provider in his responses to the complaints made by some unsatisfied customers. It reignited the doubts and uncomfortable feeling I had after receiving the first email in October, and I decided I did not feel comfortable working with them after all."

FAQs for swimming pool or accessories repair or service projects in Philadelphia, PA

A well-maintained, correctly sized pump lasts eight to 12 years. Help it reach the upper end of that range by cleaning the strainer basket, monitoring for unusual sounds, and verifying that the pump’s flow rate matches the filter's specifications. Address leaks or pressure dips quickly—minor fixes now cost far less than a premature replacement later.

Listen for grinding or screeching, watch for breaker trips, and keep an eye on sudden spikes in your electric bill—any one of these signals the pump needs attention. If repairs continue to accumulate or the unit is older than eight years, replacement often makes more financial sense. Contact a qualified pool repair professional immediately to diagnose the issue and prevent further damage to the filter or plumbing.

It’s best to keep your pool pump on while swimming. Keeping the pump on while you swim allows the filter and skimmers to catch debris in real-time, maintaining water features flowing. It’s not mandatory, but weaving swim time into your regular eight-to-12-hour schedule helps maintain crystal-clear water and consistent chemical levels without extra effort.

Start by shutting off the power at the breaker and verifying with a voltage meter. Close the water valves, bleed pressure, and unbolt the old pump. Wire the new unit according to the manufacturer's diagram, glue in the PVC unions, prime the housing, and tighten everything securely. Open the valves, flip the breaker, and watch for steady water flow and quiet operation. If any step feels beyond your expertise, consider hiring a licensed electrician or pool technician.
