"I had an excellent experience with RB Farina's work replacing old wooden gutters and old wooden fascia and soffits with new aluminum gutters and PVC soffit, fascia, and molding on my small house. I must have caught things at a good time, in late winter, because it was just 8 days between my posting my job description on Angies List, and the dumpster leaving my driveway after the work was completed. The original bid was completed at the original price, with some extras (significant touchup painting, and a quick repair on the 2nd story shutter of my neighbor who was kind enough to let us use her yard for ladders) done with no upcharge. I did not seek multiple bids so I cannot say whether the price was high or low; I counted on the fact that the bidder could expect competition. Weather was good for working and we had no ugly surprises from my very old house, so the work went pretty smoothly. I had the pleasant experience of finding that for each of the materials and methods that I either knew about or researched, in every case the Farina team was using top quality. They are good about communication: calls to the office, or by cellphone to the estimator, always were answered live or resulted in callback in a few minutes. The onsite crew was polite, responsive, and very professional. (They also looked like they were enjoying their work, which is always a good sign). The office was very proactive: the written bid arrived quickly, and every check I wrote resulted in an emailed invoice/receipt within a couple hours. For this they are using a platform called HouseCallPro, which automates the workflow considerably. (Why shouldn't buying this kind of services get as good a workflow and email trail as, say, ordering a toaster on the Internet?) . I worked hard to make the jobsite easy to work in (moved stuff away from the house, took down my window screens before they came, ran a wire out the window to provide 20amp electric power, provided a map of where the electricity and water are on outside of house, provided outside access to a bathroom), and the crew was appreciative. Day 1 was demolition, Day 2 was carpentry, Day 3 and 4 were gutter hanging, sealing, and painting. Once they got the gutters up and sealed, they ran the hose into the gutter to check for leaks and flow before they did their final cleanup and left. After watching how they did this work and what materials they used, I have pretty high confidence that their work will last a long time,. I plan to sign up for their annual gutter/roof/chimney maintenance program so that my gutters get cleaned and somebody I trust looks at my roof."

"Luis and his crew were among three contractors who bid on repointing the exterior part of our century-old leaking chimney. His bid was competitive, but he suggested that, for a few hundred more, he could simply replace the chimney to a little below the roof line, and avoid future problems. (The other two contractors didn't do masonry.) Then we discovered rot in the roof around the chimney. He ended up replacing a lot more wood, re-flashing, matching our existing shingles, and giving us a neatly-built new chimney, all within the agreed price. We are very happy with their work."

But, this company is *very* expensive as compared to others in competition. Providers who charge a lot always claim it is due to superior quality, that is, the quality justifies the price, but laypeople cannot tell if that is accurate and justified or not. For us, this company was too expensive to hire for the remaining work."

"I had a jug of the recommended product, which Mr. Dexter used to spray the entire roof--not just the bad sections. He expertly corrected a downspout position to direct rain into main gutter. Two gutter covers were replaced with white-painted, seasoned wood, which were cut to the proper shapes. A deck board was fastened securely. Mr. Dexter plans to return to inspect his roof work. If additional roof treatment is needed, there will be no additional cost for me. [I had contacted 2 other roofing companies, which were recommended by Angie's List. One company did not respond. A 2d company gave a $930 estimate, which did NOT include spraying the roof for moss/algae.]"
