They discovered that a previous repair to a break in the main line had used a replacement part that is not meant to be used below ground. The foundation repair crew had reported to me that they had broken a pipe, but that it had been repaired. I am suspecting that this was the event that caused the current problem. Anyway, Matthew replaced the inappropriate part (female sharkbite adapter) with a quality part that is flexible, responsive to temperature fluxuations, and is certified to be used underground (up to code). The work was completed quickly and the charge seemed reasonable, especially given the 10% Angie's List discount. I would describe Matthew and his apprentice as very competent, efficient, and professional. They will be my "go-to" for any future plumbing needs."
