"I needed an additional lighting fixture wired in and mounted above our pantry as well as an outdoor outlet in our patio ceiling, Cool Hand crushed it! They were extremely respectful of our home and wore disposable booties over their shoes every time they had to come inside from the attic or backyard. The install was extremely clean & professional, and of course worked flawlessly. Luke was very kind to our curious daughter who didnâ t make his job any easier! We wouldnâ t hesitate to hire them for the next project, they are 1st class."

"I asked him to come check out the breaker box to check out the wiring i had suspicion about, before i arrived he was already installing a copper ground rod that he said I needed. He installed it with out my permission and it ran me an extra $125 dollars that i was not anticipating. The actual work and only thing i wanted him to do was to check the wiring inside the breaker box.... With my permission he installed the 20 amp breaker for $80... which i think is over priced. So over all I was not pleased because they came in and starting working with out me instructing them on what i wanted them to look at and what services to perform. Before i could even tell them they already had the bill ready and just needed my payment, what could i do when the work is done and they just need my credit card information? I feel like i was taken advantage off. I will not use them again, because i felt like they just wanted to get the work done and leave as soon as possible with out giving me the time of day to explain my concerns."

"They did excellent work! They made sure that that everything was level (original plug-ins were not level and drove me crazy) - they also cleaned up (rewired) the mess that the alarm company left when they upgraded my alarm system. I cannot speak highly enough of Gifford Electric's great work product and customer service!"

"Super service, quote in person, made appointment for install, communicated arrival time, Brian and team, worked all day, with only 1 break! Great communication through entire job, the TV mounting is great, the cable box and Apple TV is attached to back of the TV and the wires are all hidden, looks GREAT. Media room exceeded expectations for sound and picture ... I even decided I wanted a larger TV in the living room and they removed the original and.installed the.new one, staying way past their intended time, HIRE THEM NOW, you will be happy you did it!

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Italy, TX

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
