"I had old style yellow oak kitchen cabinets. Instead of tearing them out, I decided to reface with MadCity. They were professional, efficient and did excellent work. My cabinet doors were re-made in a newer more modern style, the hinges are now on the inside and slow close, and the finish is beautiful. I am now proud of my kitchen. I would recommend MadCity based on quality of their product and work. These have a lifetime guarantee and being local, I am confident in their service in the future (though I'm doubting I will have issues). Great experience from sale to installation."

".  I like my new cabinets.  I was not happy with the backsplash. In addition, installation was delayed due to wrong hinges and some drawers were not measured correctly and had to be reordered  So a job that should have been finished in 4 - 5 days stretched out to a couple of weeks.  The reason I was not happy with the backsplash was that when they came to my house for the consult, they only had small samples of choices.  It was really hard to choose from such a small sample...i.e. to figure out how a small tile sample would look on the wall. Even after choosing the backsplash, I had second thoughts and even called them and ask if I could come in to see any larger samples of what I was getting.  I was told they didn't have any and not to worry that I would like what I chose.  I even emailed and asked again about my choice, and I was  discouraged from any further discussion on it.  But don't get me wrong, it was partly my fault too, as I should have insisted on more information on what I was getting.  When the backsplash came in and installed it was a greenish color.  Something I would have never ordered.  It did not look green in the small sample. I was told since it was glass tile that it would reflect colors around it.  There is nothing green in my kitchen.  Anyway, when I expressed my displeasure with it, Granite Transformations was willing to work with me to choose something else..but it would cost me more, therefore, I decided not to pursue that avenue.  I thought they should have compensated me more than they did for the inconvenience of the delays plus the fact that I tried to resolve the backsplash indecisiveness early on but was discouraged from doing so.   <br /> So my advice to Granite T. is to listen to your customers and if they express some doubt about what they have ordered you should encourage them to talk to you about it and even come in to see other samples, etc..Seems to me that would help prevent/resolve any surprises at installation    I've learned my lesson. <br />"

"We had new kitchen cabinets made but wanted to keep the upper cabinets and just replace the doors. The cabinet makers were making the doors for the upper cabinets and would be painting them along with the bottom cabinets but wouldn't paint the upper cabinets. I had been given Christopher's phone # several weeks before I even joined Angie's List by a family member. He had painted some cabinets for a friend of hers in Maryville and she was very pleased with the results. <br /> Christopher arrived on time for estimate and was very courteous. He did an excellent job and I would highly recommend his company. The painting matched perfectly. It was a very small job and took less than two day <br />"

"Keith was professional, completed the job quickly and made design suggestions that were very helpful. We found the cabinet to be well-made and of higher quality than our original cabinets, yet it still blended in with the existing ones. <br />"

"Eddie worked with me for several weeks to get the design right. We did 3-4 iterations of the design. Next there was a several week waiting period while the cabinets were being manufactured at their shop in Louisville and the doors ordered from another shop. I wanted white doors that would be very durable. My closet is small and white cabinets keep it from looking dark and cramped.  On installation day, they arrived with a truck stuffed full of cabinets, tools, and finishing materials. Two guys did the installation, most was done in two days, with the doors arriving a few days later. One pants hangers I ordered had a dysfunction, so the crew came back to finish a few weeks later after the replacement part arrived. If you need custom cabinets or specialized furniture in your home or business, this is the best place to get it. If you need regular cabinetry, it will likely be less expensive to get it at a big box store. This company recently also does cabinet refacing where they replace the doors and visible areas of your existing cabinets. I do not have experience with this, but these people do a great job. Eddie, the owner, works hard and pays very close attention to his customers! After the job was done, I later visited the Hopps Woodworks shop in Louisville - it is very organized with several workers at various design, sawing, planing, assembling, gluing and other stations, This is the rare affordable company that does custom cabinets."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Jacksboro, TN

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
