"Did not happen. It was scheduled 3 days in advance, but I was late returning a confirmatory phone call. I called at 5:00 PM, but no one was there. I did leave a message giving them the OK to come in the morning. I called again early the next morning, when the workers did not show at 7:30. I was informed that I was taken off the schedule due to the communication issue and asked if I wanted to reschedule. I thought it over and decided to do it myself. Their price was $175 for the first hour and then $140/hr. for each additional hour. This included travel from their facility to my house and a trip to a plumbing supply store and back again. No hard feelings since I am saving a lot of money."

"Can't thank them enough. The two men on the job came by right away and fixed a broken standpipe. The pipe is between the meter and my main shut off, and with it broken the house had no water (also water was inundating the yard until it was stopped at the meter). It now looks and functions better than before. Again, very grateful."

"Our laundry sink is a deep tub with little space left for the faucet in the rear. I expected that the plumber would need to remove the tub in order to replace the faucet. However, he did all his work from the underside and needed to cut the copper tubing to the old faucet to accomplish. He didn’t ask nor did I specify that I wanted to reuse the old faucet. But he defeated that purpose when he cut the tubing to close to faucet body. Subsequently, when we checked the installation, we pointed out that he hadn’t tightened down enough allowing the faucet to be moved around on the tub. Additionally, the pull-down hose couldn’t be pulled down at all. He fixed these items before he left. But afterwards, I discovered that the hose could only be pulled down part of it overall length. Admittedly, this was a tough job especially in the manner that he chose to accomplish. But I felt it could have gone better."

"Troy was recommended to me by a person from Nextdoor. I could not have been more pleased with the work Troy did. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional, punctual and performed the job as he said he would. It was hard for me to imagine how my patio would look once he removed several garden areas, poured concrete in a few spots and added french drains but it looks great. I highly recommend him."

"After experiencing some trades-people (not plumbers) who didn't do jobs well or even finish the job to code, we were twice-shy about who we could trust to do things correctly in our renovation. One contractor highly recommended B&D Plumbing to us. B&D sent Robby and Archie to install a kitchen faucet, disposer, dishwasher connect, and a bar faucet. They treated our project as if it were their project--with great care. They worked together seamlessly on the installations and checked for leaks and other issues for good measure. We were completely satisfied with their professionalism, promptness, and performance. We are glad to have found this business!"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Jackson, LA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
