"I recently had a concrete patio, steps, and a shed pad installed and couldn’t be happier with the result. From start to finish, the team was prompt and professional, showing up on time and ready to work. Their communication was excellent—we always knew what to expect and when. Once they got started, the crew worked quickly and efficiently, finishing the job in far less time than I expected without cutting corners on quality. The pricing was also very competitive compared to other quotes I received. Overall, I am very pleased with the results and would absolutely use them again for future project. My neighbor already asked for their number lol."

"Poor communication and damaged our drive. We hired White Rabbit to patch an area of the concrete on our garage floor and apply a coating. During our consultation the sales person told us that patching the area we needed fixed wouldn’t be a problem. The installers were an hour late on the day of the job and the patch, along with about a 2.5 foot strip of the asphalt on our drive, pulled up the night after they left. They also laid down the wrong color coating. It took several back and forth calls, texts, and emails to get someone scheduled to come out and fix the damage. We were told not to worry that they were confident they knew why it happened, that the new fix would hold, and it wouldn’t be noticeable. On the second visit the original installer came back and dug out the area of the floor and the asphalt that had pulled up. The second attempt at patching wasn’t uniform, extended out way farther then needed, and was very noticeable. It also started to pull up again the next day. After more back and forth they sent someone else out to take a look. The person they sent out the third time was more knowledgable and told us that a patch after the coating has been laid down will always show and they shouldn’t have told us otherwise. He made arrangements to come out the next day, buff the floor down, fix the patch again, apply the right color seal, and patch the asphalt. The floor held this time, but dips down lower where the patch is. We have to watch for water pooling in the area when we get heavy rain. It’s not ideal, but something we'll have to live with. The asphalt patch never hardened, started to flake off around the edges, and turned green. This concerned us and we tried getting someone out from White Rabbit again to look at it or give us advice on what to do, but they began dodging us and even told us that they weren’t asphalt people and that the asphalt damage was preexisting. We couldn’t believe this reaction considering that we had been very patient throughout the whole ordeal, it was obvious that the damage was a result of their work, and they applied the asphalt patch, so we assumed they would know about the product they were using . They told us they were trying to figure out what the problem was and would get back to us, which they never did. We tried contacting the office to speak with a manager and also never heard back. In the end we had to seek out an answer on our own and spend additional money to resolve. Very disappointing especially considering they were almost double in price compared to other quotes we had gotten."

"They were quick to give me an estimate and quick to schedule to get the work done.  They were great to work with overall.  I give credit to them for even wanting to step foot in the bug infested, damp, cob webbed, dark crawlspace in the first place! <br>"

"John and Adam were excellent from beginning to end.  My husband and I told each contractor we interviewed that we wanted to build a retaining wall to hold additional driveway space, and remove and replace our existing driveway.  We wanted to do it once and wanted it to last ?forever?.  Mainline definitely had the best solution for us when John suggested that we use 2? x 2? x 1? concrete blocks for the wall.  The concrete driveway could then be poured directly on top of the blocks for even greater stability. <br /> John worked with us for the timing of the project, and he worked with us through some extra state ?red tape? that we had to wade through.  <br /> Throughout the process, John and Adam worked diligently, were professional, polite, and courteous, and kept us informed of the <br /> progress.  They started the job, came every day (except for the rain), worked from sun up till sun down on the nice days, and completed the entire job in two weeks.  <br /> John and Adam devised several outstanding solutions during their two weeks on the job.  First, was to use the large concrete blocks for the retaining wall.  Next, was their solution of how to slide the 500 lb. blocks into place, as the backhoe could not squeeze back far enough due to our limited space.  We also had an existing step up off of the patio that was unsightly, but could not be replaced (as it was the floor of the sunroom).  Their solution, which we love, was to build a two foot wide step across the length of the sunroom to hide the existing concrete. <br /> Mainline delivered everything they promised.  I am very glad that we decided to have them do our project.  I would hire them again, <br /> and I would happily and sincerely recommend them to others."

"Everything went very well. My husband did the prep work they requested (removing paneling and drywall to 18 inches above the floor, cutting the wood studs to that level, and removing carpeting to six inches away from the wall). Two workers from Badger Basement came to our house and were completely done in only two hours. They jackhammered out the existing concrete slab, installed metal channels in the wall to drain any moisture out beyond the foundation, installed a sump pump in the room's closet, and poured fresh concrete to fill the new trench. All work done very professionally and thoroughly."

"Steve did an excellent job! He was truly professional, hard working, quick and complete. Not only was removal of the old concrete done fast, he and his Bobcat did a great job of removing the packed dirt between the old driveway and old sidewalk all while causing absolutely no harm to our neighbor's adjoining driveway. Steve even took the excess dirt from the front to the place in the back my husband asked of him while on site(not in our estimate) The cut of the concrete slabs blends beautifully with our neighbor's. This was an exceptional "get it done and get it done right" service from start to finish!! <br />"

"The work that they did was okay. You get potholes at the end of the driveway, so I know I am due for another sealing, but next time I will get the whole price before doing the work. The cracks are all filled in."

"During estimates, he worked hard to get my business. Followed up with a 2nd visit to see if we made up our minds yet. Clay showed up on time for the job and despite weather problems finished the job in forecasted timeframe. The finished work was professional looking. He took precautions to shield the neighbors from the work site.We were happy with the new concrete and look forward to many years of smooth travel. As you can see, the price was right. Thank-you Clay Concrete!"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Jefferson, WI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
